"Kiara Malfoy."

Chapter 22: Frozen

"I think I like you Fred Weasley," Kiara murmured, staring into Fred's eyes. His heart skipped a beat. He wondered if he was dreaming or that his subconscious practically imagined her words. He'd been waiting patiently for Kiara to like him back for years, especially since his crush turned into much more at the Yule Ball. His eyes widened, unable to process the words properly. His mind was scrambled with a million thoughts running through his head. He watched as her eyes changed from dark blue to white and Fred knew that she was beginning to doubt herself. His frozen reaction wasn't what she was expecting. She opened her mouth to speak, presumably to apologise and make some sort of excuse when without warning, he impulsively crashed his lips onto her own.

She did more than just not stop him. She kissed him back, stealing his breath away permanently. Her lips were soft and sweet, yet so welcoming. He breathed in her scent and she smelt like strawberries, even though it was the early hours of the morning. He remembered studying Amortentia in Potions the year before in his Sixth Year and all he could smell was strawberries. He didn't realise who the scent belonged too until he hugged her a couple of hours later.

Every square inch of his body felt like it was dissolving into hers. He grinned into the kiss, feeling her fingers intertwine and grip his hair, pulling him closer. His hands snatched her waist, holding her in place. He didn't want to let go, not now when he'd finally found someone who had kissed Fred like he'd never been kissed before.

But, in comparison to Kiara, no one had ever kissed him before in the same way.

Fred eventually broke away to catch his breath, but he did so regretfully. He didn't want the dream to end, even though it was completely real and genuine. He placed his forehead against hers, panting in sync with her soft breathing. He smiled like a lovesick mess, noticing that her eyes were a shade of fuchsia pink. "Now, what would you say if I told you that I knew I liked you Kiara Malfoy?"

Kiara smiled, her hands moving down to rest on his shoulders. Her heart was no longer beating nervously. Instead, it was beating fast in delight that it was finally in a position that it wanted to be in. She followed her heart to get to this moment. "I would say that I feel relieved because I was terrified that you didn't."

"Are you serious? I've had a crush on you for a long time," He kissed her nose to which she giggled as the snow began to fall heavier around them.

"Wait, what?" Kiara asked in disbelief, leaning back and looking at him in surprise. "You have?"

"Since you defended George and I with Snape," Fred admitted. He didn't want to tell her that he was in love with her, thinking that it was far too forward and it might chase her away. He knew that she loved him, and he also loved her. It was apparent during their friendship. But, they'd only just confessed their feelings for each other for the first time and he didn't want to scare her.

Her eyes widened. "Fred, that was when you first met me."

"It was," He hummed, cupping her face with his hands and admiring it. He couldn't believe how soft her skin was and he wanted to kiss it again just to be sure he wasn't dreaming.

"You never told me?" She said quietly.

"And, you never told me?" Fred teased, tracing circles on her cheeks. "What about you?"She smiled.

"Touché. I think I've liked you for a long time, but I've never admitted it to myself. Ginny and Hermione have constantly been trying to tell me, but I just ignored it. But, I spoke to George tonight and he told me to actually stop and think about it. He said 'the only person in the world who can break your heart the most is the person you love the most.' When we argued and stopped talking, I was shattered. If it was anyone else, I would've been upset but not to the same extent. There's a reason why we are so close compared to everyone else. There's a reason why I look for you first whenever I enter the Great Hall or the Common Room. There's a reason why we are always touching, unknowingly holding hands or hugging. You make me the happiest version of myself."
