"Kiara Malfoy."
Chapter 38: The Reason
"Kiara Malfoy. We finally meet."
The voice was high-pitched and cold, seemingly unnatural. Kiara opened her eyes, her knees on the ground. She was in the Room of Prophecies again, the sign of her captor gone. The shards and remnants of glass lay across the floor as aisles that held the glass spheres were smashed and destroyed. It was eerily quiet however, like when she first entered the room. It seemed like an eternity ago.
Like before, she wasn't alone though.
She stood up, her knees feeling weak as she faced him with white eyes. He was tall, thin and black-hooded. His terrible face resembled a snake, white and gaunt and his scarlet, slit-pupiled eyes stared at hers. Lord Voldemort was like everything evil that she always thought, but he also wasn't. His wand pointed directly at her. His head tilted to the side as he studied her, seeing her for the first time.
"I see that the ancient curse was successful, I can somehow feel the magic radiating from your body. And your eyes... An Arcus Oculus, how unexpected."
"Why did you do this to me?" Kiara said loudly, speaking louder to fake confidence. It didn't matter if her eyes were white, he wouldn't be able to know what that meant. Voldemort's red eyes narrowed, almost in disbelief that someone had the courage to speak to him in such a way. She couldn't imagine that a lot of people ever did that or survived very long thereafter.
"Give me my prophecy and I will show you," Voldemort said softly.
"It's gone."
Voldemort's expression changed from soft to pure rage. "My prophecy is destroyed. Months of preparation, months of effort, all wasted. I cannot read your mind to see whether it is true, unlike Potter's. You are not weak like him. But there is no point in lying to me."
"Tell me why you did this to me," Kiara repeated coldly and Voldemort laughed. She felt goosebumps on the bare skin of her neck as she fought the urge to shiver. It was a cold laugh, it was nightmarish. Voldemort circled her, his bare feet pacing up and down and passing his wand between his hands. He was toying with her, trying to impose fear in her body.
"Sixteen years ago, a Seer professed your future, acknowledging that a child of a Death Eater would determine the outcome of the Wizarding World one day. The child would have the ability to acquire powers that anyone, even myself, could ever dream of."
Involuntarily, her hands were shaking. She felt sick to the stomach with nerves. She was terrified to discover why she was given these magical gifts. She was terrified that it would change her entire life forever.
"The child with these powers would become the greatest weapon, either for myself or against myself. When you and Draco were born together, I knew that you were the weapon. It would be blindingly obvious for me to pick Draco, to choose a boy as my weapon. A man to follow in another man's footsteps. But, for that reason, I chose you. A girl who could charm my enemies, make them swoon and fall at her feet before she unleashes her powers... Lucius was more than willing to give you to me, it was the highest honour for any of my Death Eaters. You may have Malfoy blood in your veins but you belong to me."
"No..."
"You are not a Malfoy, Kiara. You are a Riddle because you are mine, I have created you into what you are, Kiara Riddle."
"NO!" Kiara screamed, flames erupting instantly around her with her rage, roaring and burning. Voldemort merely laughed, his eyes maliciously staring at the fire. Her eyes turned to red, identical to his.
