"Kiara Malfoy"
Chapter 13: Released
The bell that signalled the end of classes for the day echoed through the empty Hospital Wing. "Hello, dear. You are looking much better this evening. I would like you to take this potion," Pomfrey said, entering the Hospital Wing from her office holding a vial filled to the brim with a green potion. "You may feel an odd, burning sensation in your body but that's just the effects. The potion is renewing your energy," Pomfrey explained. She carefully checked Kiara's vitals and blood pressure, writing them on the same piece of parchment from earlier. "Excellent. Everything's going much better than expected," She said happily, looking up from her parchment and smiling.
"That's a relief."
Suddenly, Kiara cringed as a burning pain filled her body. The potion was taking effect, contracting and releasing her muscles. She gasped at the sensation but as soon as it came, it disappeared. All that remained was a tingling sensation in her joints.
"Kiara!" Ron, Hermione, Harry, Fred, George, and Ginny ran through the doors to the Hospital Wing, all grinning.
"Finally," Kiara said, grinning. She hated to admit that she was counting every minute until they returned.
"Sorry, we were trying to get through the school day-,"
"While you were snoozing, and doing nothing."
Kiara rolled her eyes at the twins. "I would love to swap with you. It wasn't that fun, being in a coma for two weeks." Immediately, all their faces fell at the reminder and she regretted her light-hearted words. "Oh, I'm sorry."
"That's quite alright," Hermione said happily, brushing it off politely.
"So, how has Hogwarts been?"
"Not much of a difference," Harry said, sitting on the chair next to the bed while the others sat elsewhere; Ginny and Hermione sat at the foot of the bed, Fred and George sitting on the bed next to mine, and finally Ron sitting on another chair.
"Except for the fact Umbridge is now Hogwarts High Inquisitor."
"She has the power to inspect teachers during their classes and dismiss anyone who she finds unworthy to teach."
"Trelawney's already on probation," Hermione smirked and Kiara snorted. She never enjoyed Trelawney's lessons. During each Divination class, the Professor made constant and repetitive predictions that she was in approaching danger and she would die a horrible death. It was becoming tiresome and less amusing with each class.
"Umbridge thinks she's a right old fraud," Ginny pointed, looking as if she agreed with her.
"Just like the rest of us," Fred and George agreed in unison.
"Umbridge is getting out of hand," Kiara frowned.
"That she is," Harry muttered under his breath angrily, clenching his fists.
Kiara looked at her right hand and scowled when she saw the scars were still etched upon her skin, white as ever. "Are we going to do anything about it, though?"
"Well, Ron and I had an-," Hermione began before she broke off when Ron shot her a glare. "Oh, I mean, I had the idea. The idea that we should teach ourselves Defence Against the Dark Arts."
"Ourselves?"
"Yes, but we'll have a teacher, a proper teacher. One who has had first-hand experience against the Dark Arts," Hermione continued. Kiara glanced at Harry who was looking glum, playing with his thumbs.
