"Kiara Malfoy."
Chapter 19: Alone
The next morning, Kiara's pillow felt oddly wet when she woke up after a sleepless night of tossing and turning. Her eyes were sore and puffy, after she cried herself to sleep for what felt like hours. Of course, Kiara remembered why. After the Quidditch game the day before, Fred yelled at her and broke her heart. His words contradicted everything he's ever said to her about how important she was to him. It was painful because she really thought out of everyone, Fred was the one who cared for her, after everything. He was meant to be her best friend.
If he did care for her, he wouldn't say that she was nothing to him.
Deep down, Kiara knew that Fred didn't mean the words and he would've instantly regretted them once he saw the impact on her. He was angry that he didn't have the opportunity to punish Draco for insulting his parents and family. A voice in Kiara's head however, kept shutting that out, reminding her that it was no excuse for what he said to her when she was merely trying to stop him from getting hurt.
Nothing could describe Kiara's feelings of despair. Ultimately, she felt worse somehow than how she felt over the summer holidays when she was being tortured. At least, back then, she held onto the hope and truth that she would be happy again when she was reunited with her friends.
Right now however, she felt completely alone. The one person who meant so much to her realistically didn't care about her as much as she always thought.
She sat up and wiped her puffy eyes once more. She felt like she had done that a lot in the past few hours, until she reached a point where she stopped trying. The dormitory was empty once more, giving her the privacy to shower and change in silence. Her eyes were still the same shade of a dark grey, swirling around like dark rain clouds.
It was unsurprising that grey meant sad or hurt. She was feeling both of those emotions and it was apparent what the reason was behind it.
When she entered the Gryffindor Common Room, it was practically empty, except for a few people, including Harry and Ron. They were sitting by the fire their books out as they scribbled notes down in an effort to complete their last minute assignments.
Harry sat up for a moment, groaning in exhaustion before looking around the Common Room for a moment. His eyes noticed Kiara's sullen figure.
"Kiara?"
Ron looked up from his homework as well. "What happened to you?" Ron asked and Kiara shrugged. They clearly didn't know about her argument with Fred.
"Where is Hermione?" Kiara said quietly, trying to prevent her voice from cracking.
"She went to see Hagrid," Harry replied, studying her carefully through his glasses. She knew Harry was more observant than Ron and that he would know quite easily if she was hiding something from her body language.
"He's back?"
Ron opened his mouth to respond to her when a snowball hit the window to his right. He groaned irritably and walked over to the window and stuck his head out.
"Oi - I am a Prefect and if one more snowball hits this window - OUCH!"
Ron withdrew his head. His face was bright red from the cold of the snow that covered his face.
"It's Fred and George. Gits," Ron replied angrily, shaking his head. The snow fell to the carpet around him. At the mention of his name, Kiara's face fell.
"Kiara? What happened between you and the twins?" Harry said in a low voice, noticing her change of expression.
"N-Nothing. Nothing happened between us. Um, I-I'm just going to go down to breakfast..." Kiara trailed off, her voice beginning to crack.
