"Kiara Malfoy"

Chapter 2: Saved by Love

Kiara glowered at her father, her glare not wavering. She refused to beg for mercy or display any sign of fear. She remembered for a moment why she was sorted into Gryffindor. She was no longer the vulnerable child that her father used to whip into his control when she was four-years old. Scarlett however, stood next to her in fear as she trembled, her legs weak with terror. Kiara wished that she could comfort her somehow, but she feared that it would cause her more harm than good.

Lucius drew his wand and pointed it at Kiara, tilting his head to the side as he sneered. "Avada Kedavra."

Kiara couldn't breathe, she never expected it. The shock of the Killing Curse being uttered aloud and in her presence caused Kiara to collapse to the ground, banging her knees painfully against the stone floor. She thought that it was for her and she prepared for the worst. She didn't even get the opportunity to say goodbye to her friends. A flash of green light flashed through the room and peeked through her eyelids, but the spell never reached her, much to her shock. There was no darkness and she could still feel the pain from the fall. Opening her eyes slowly however, she noticed immediately the unmoving body lying on the cold floor next to her.

Scarlett's body was motionless and lay peacefully on the kitchen ground. If it wasn't for her eyes, Kiara would've thought that she was asleep. Yet, her eyes were misted over as they reflected the dark ceiling. Her expression displayed terror and when Kiara called her name softly in a desperate attempt, she realised that she was gone.

Tears filled Kiara's eyes as she wept over the house-elf's lifeless body. She couldn't help but feel guilty. She knew that it was her fault because she brought Scarlett to the kitchen with her. If she wasn't so focused on avoiding Lucius and trying to protect herself, Scarlett would still be alive. She began thinking about how many others may die for her, especially at her father's hand? He was unhinged and he wouldn't care about the repercussions of his actions, especially now that Voldemort had returned. Lucius was laughing in the distance but it was eerily and echoey, as she cried for the House-Elf.

It's all my fault, it's all my fault, she thought to herself. I'm so sorry, Scarlett.

She didn't even notice when Lucius cast another spell, summoning ropes to wrap around her body and bind her limbs tightly together. She gasped for air as it constricted her lungs. She could not move or escape. She was forced to face Lucius, meeting his cold stare.

"This is what will happen to you, my dear. It is your decision if you would like others to suffer the consequences of your actions. I know Kiara, what will break your heart before I kill you. One which will cause you to lose everything and everyone you dearly care about. The other is something I'd find pleasurable in your position," He said quietly, hissing the last sentence. Kiara struggled furiously against the constricted hold of the ropes. A mixture of confusion and horror must've shown on her face at his last words. Her stomach lurched uncomfortably, scared of what Lucius could possibly be suggesting. She felt sick, hoping against every fibre in her body that it wasn't what she was thinking. Lucius merely smirked.

"I see you have no idea what I'm talking about. Aren't Gryffindors supposed to be smart? Maybe you should be in Hufflepuff," Lucius mocked her, his wand pointing at her lazily. She clenched her fists in anger, not wanting to respond.. "You can't fight me, dear. You have no hopes of winning. It is something that will lose your... Oh how do they put it these days? Virginity? I think that we could find a fellow Death Eater friend who would be interested."

Her body froze at his last words, her heart pounding loudly against her chest. She felt nauseous at the thought, feeling a bitter taste in her mouth. Her body was subconsciously disgusted by his words. She could not think of a worse enough word to describe Lucius in that moment. He was worse than the devil himself. "You are disgusting!"
