"Kiara Malfoy."
Chapter 24: Not Through My Eyes
Nearly a month had passed since Fred and Kiara first began dating. Their relationship didn't change much however, except with the addition of affection and physical attraction between them. Since they'd always been best friends, they were still as close as ever. It wasn't a surprise to see them holding hands in the hallway or kissing each other good morning or goodnight in the Common Room. Their relationship remained as strong as ever and being happy was an understatement; Kiara had never felt happier in her whole life than she had now with Fred.
Today was the last day of school and tomorrow, the holidays would start. By choice, Kiara chose to remain at Hogwarts for the Christmas Holidays. The Weasley's invited her to stay over, as per usual, but she politely rejected their offer, much to Fred's disappointment. She knew that he meant well and wanted to spend their first Christmas together as a couple but she didn't want to intrude on the Weasleys.
Tonight, the DA was having their last meeting before the holidays began. Since most students were leaving for the holidays, there was no point having their meetings during the next few weeks. Kiara was looking forward to it before she needed to say goodbye to her friends for the next few weeks.
"Miss Malfoy!" Kiara turned around to the sound of her nickname as she walked after her Transfiguration class. She squealed as a familiar red-headed boy picked her up and threw her over his shoulder, like she weighed nothing. Her books all fell to the ground as she dropped them in surprise but they were collected by Lee. Kiara sighed, looking at Fred who was grinning like a Cheshire Cat.
"Couldn't you think of a less exotic greeting?" Kiara groaned, her body moving up and down with Fred's strides. Fred pulled her down from his shoulder and smirked.
"Like this?" Fred kissed her.
"Yes, that is a much better greeting," She exhaled with a smile. He took her hand and they walked to the Common Room, with George and Lee on each side to put their books away before going to dinner. "Except for one tiny factor."
"What is it?" George asked. A new Educational Decree had been passed by Umbridge earlier that week that somewhat concerned the new couple, although Kiara knew that Fred thought it was garbage.
"Educational Decree Number 31 states that girls and boys are not permitted to be within 8 inches of each other," Kiara repeated in an imitation of Umbridge's high pitched voice and the boys all laughed.
Fred kissed her cheek and smirked. "Honestly, Kiara, I never follow the rules anyway and I definitely won't be following that one if it forces me away from you."
"Now Mr Weasley, are you sure you won't be following that Educational Decree because I hope you realise, the consequences of that will be expulsion?" Kiara frowned, facing an ugly image of Umbridge who was smiling widely at the four of us. Fred immediately glared at the toad, his body stiffening at her appearance. Kiara squeezed his hand to somewhat calm him down, in case he acted rashly and landed himself in trouble.
"No, Professor Umbridge. I need to stay at school for one reason and one reason only," Fred replied, somewhat calmly. Kiara raised her eyebrows in satisfaction with this response. She was expecting a smart or witty remark from him that would result in a detention. But, she was too hopeful, noticing the smirk on his face as he added. "And, your educational decree won't separate me from that reason."
Kiara immediately blushed as she realised what his words meant. She could've face palmed at this, knowing that Umbridge would be furious. George and Lee sniggered and covered their mouths. Umbridge frowned at him before she smiled widely, wagging her finger covered in ugly rings at the two of them.
