Chapter 21
Alex's POV
I sit in french class playing with my pencil bored as I always am. I look at my worksheet that I'm supposed to be doing. It's simple and I already understand all of this stuff. I quickly write in all of the answers and put the page in my binder.
"Alright class." Calls out Mme. Morrison. "Back to your seats please."
Ally soon comes back and is sitting beside me. She's nice and all but we don't really talk much. She has other friends in this class and I usually just do work by myself.
"What do you think she wants this time?" Ally asks my and I shrug.
"Beats me." I say back.
"Okay so we are starting another project, and this will be a partner project." She says and everyone starts looking around the room for their friends. "Before you start looking for your friends, I'll let you know that I am picking who you work with."
A groan goes throughout the whole class and I couldn't agree with them more. She starts calling out names and one by one friends are split up to work with some person they probably didn't even know existed.
"Ally and Oliver." She calls out and Ally let's out a bug groan.
"Why'd she put me with that weirdo?" She asks me as she goes over to her desk.
"Beau and Alexandra." She calls.
"It's Alex." I tell her and then realize what she just said.
"Hey, I'm Beau." He says sitting down beside me, taking Ally's seat.
"Ya I know." I tell him. "Sorry that came out ruder then it should've."
"It's alright. I've heard ruder comments before." He says and shrugs.
"We receive our assignment and read it over. It doesn't seem that difficult. We have to draw each others faces, but then for the outline and filling anything in we have to write sentences about that person.
"So do you want me to draw you first?" Beau asks.
"If you want to." I offer.
I sit looking at him as he takes his pencil and starts drawing my face. It takes a while but watching him as he works is kind of interesting.
"So what do you like to do for fun?" He asks me.
"I like hanging out with my friends. I play a couple sports with my friend Kristin actually."
"Sounds fun."
"What do you like to do?" I ask him back.
"I draw, I write. I don't really do much and I like to keep to myself."
"That sounds just like me."
"What's your favorite colour?"
"Black."
"I kind of figured."
"What's that supposed to mean."
"You're always wearing black. Even most of your make up is black."
He does have a point I do wear black and a lot of dark colours like all the time.
"Well what's your favorite colour then?" I look at his clothes. "I'm going to guess blue."
"You're right." He says and we laugh.
We sit there while he focuses in drawing my face. Soon he finishes.
"Can I see it please?" I ask him and he passes it to me. "Wow this is amazing!" I tell him.
"Thanks, I've been drawing for practically my whole life." He tells me. "But now it's your turn."
I grab my pencil and a piece of paper and look at him. As im drawing I notice little things like how his face isn't really round, and the fact that his chin comes to a smooth end. He has high cheek bones that are easily visible. I notice the way different parts of his face look different depending on the way the light is hitting his face. His hair is shaggy over top of his forehead. And his ears are barely visible under his mess of hair. Above his right eye there is a scar. I wonder how he got that. His eyes are a deep brown and I feel like I could stare into them for ages.
"I'm finished." I tell him and admire my worm.
"Let me see." He says.
"It looks horrible compared to yours."
"I'm sure it's fine."
"I'm don't want you to see it."
"It's a portrait of me. Which means I have a right to see it."
"Fine." I sigh giving into him.
I hand over the paper and he takes it to look it over.
"This is amazing Alex."
"Really?" I ask him.
"Really." He replies.
"Well thanks."
"No problem."
We start writing sentences in and around the face in silence. We look up now and then and sometimes I even catch him staring at me. I know I blush almost every single time.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
The bell for the end of class goes and I put my stuff in my binder.
"It was nice working with you." Beau says with a smile.
"You too." I say back.
"Hey, Alex." He says as I start to walk away.
"Yes?"
"Do you maybe want to go out sometime?" He asks and I stand in shock.
"I - I'd love too." I tell him.
"Here give me your phone, I'll put my number in it." He says and I hand him my phone. "Great. I'll text you."
"Okay sounds good."
"Oh and Alex?"
"Yes Beau?"
"It's a date." He says and winks as he walks away.
