Chapter 39
Livvy's POV
It's the day before prom and I couldn't be more excited. My friends and I are going in a group, even though a few of us do have dates. I have Jacob, Alex has Beau, Kris has Troy, and Angel has some guy named Matt. Although Mads and Talia don't have dates they're still coming with us. Talia was thinking about going with Daniel but that would still be considered inappropriate since there is still over a month until he turns 18.
I sit in the spa chair with my five best friends around me. We decided that since it's prom tomorrow we should get our nails done together. We all get our finger and toe nails in colours that match our dresses. And on each of our ring fingers the nail artist adds a little something to make each one unique.
These are the moments that I long for and am going to cherish for the rest of me life. Even if I don't end up staying in contact with these girls after high school, I know that we'll always have these memories that make me happy and feel so lucky. These girls aren't just my friends, but they're like my family.
"I'm going to tell my dad once and for all that I don't want to take over the family business, and then I think I'm going to run away for the summer and not tell him where I'm going." Mads tells us.
"I'm proud of you girl. Finally sticking up for yourself." Kris tells her. "And what are you going to do Talia?"
"Well Daniel is turning 18 soon and then we'll officially be able to be together." She tells us.
"I'm so happy that you are officially adopted." Angel says.
"I know, me too. My brother will finally have a place until he's 18 and even beyond that. We'll be able to go back for holidays and birthdays and that makes me super excited." Talia explains.
"I'm so happy that everything is working out for everyone now." Alex says.
"Ya, look at you and Jacob." Mads says putting the attention on me.
"What about us?" I ask not being able to hide the obvious blush that has come across my face.
"You guys seemed to work it out in the end." Kris points out.
"We've done a lot of talking and we think we're at a good place. No more lies, no more bets, and most importantly, no more Karman." I tell them.
"What even happened to her?" Talia asks the group.
"Well, when Jacob caught Karman and Isaac together he let it slip that she is pregnant, and now everyone knows. But as soon as we got back from the trip Isaac bolted and no one has heard anything from him since." I tell them.
"Maybe it's for the best." Angel says.
"No one should have to go through something like that alone, especially that young, but she obviously shouldn't have cheated on her boyfriend." I say and they all agree.
"Maybe this is just the karma that was bound to come to Karman." Kris pipes up. "I mean we all know how terrible she really is."
"I think it's time for a change in topic." I say knowing that we're all thinking about what happened to Kris just a few months ago.
"I'm honestly so sad that high school is almost done!" Exclaims Alex.
"I know!" Agrees Talia.
"I'm like super stoked for university, but I'm going to miss you girls so much!" Kris tells us.
"It sucks that we're all going places that aren't even near each other and I'm not even going for the first year." Mads says.
"Well, we'll always have our memories of high school, good and the bad ones." I tell them and we all nod.
