Alijah POV

For someone that wants to throw a baby shower, Dre sure hasn't done too much of anything. He swears Chrissy and I are party planners or some shit.

He's done one thing and that was eat every damn Kabob Aunt Trisha has made. He's ridiculous without a doubt.

"Dre!" I called in an annoyed tone. He was nowhere to be found and I needed him to put up the damn banner.

"You need something?" He yelled back from somewhere in the house.

His and Lyric's new place was beautiful. Pretty wealthy in size, three bedrooms, two baths. It wasn't fully furnished but they had the basic things like living room furniture, beds, TVs and kitchen and bathroom appliances. I'm honestly so happy for them. They're happy and being happy for them is the least I could do.

"Who're you having this baby shower for?" I interrogated once I could see his face.

"Lyric. Why you being dumb, dumb ass?"

"Who's girlfriend is she?"

"Mine. What's up with these questions you already know the answers to?" He frowned.

"And who's baby is she having?"

"Man I'm go-" He started but Chrissy cut him off.

"Yours! Ok then nigga get the hell up in here and help us or I'm knocking every decoration we've put up, down."

"Whatever."

"Try it." She said snatching the string that held the letters, 'It's A Boy', from the wall.

I glanced at Dre just to see his reaction and he clearly took that threat to heart seeing that he immediately made his way to me and grabbed the banner.

Honestly, if it wasn't for my relationship with Lyric, I'd probably be at home, in bed, with my Doritos.

My baby cousin was the only thing that pushed me to get out of bed today. Other times it'd be school or some other important shit and I only get up then because my parents forced me to.

My birthday is in about three days and I can't even be happy about that because it only reminds of the start of trial which is April sixteenth , my birthday is March sixteenth.

Even though I didn't want to talk to August about the new attorney, I was still hoping Mark, the lawyer he'd suggested, would pull through for me.

"Where ya head at?" Dre nudged my side with his foot as he stood on the small two-step ladder. "Hand me the damn tac."

"Don't curse at me, I'll knock your ass off this ladder." I passed him one of the transparent tacs from the small pack.

Once all four corners of the banner was pinned to the wall, I went to the kitchen to turn the stove of like Auntie had asked me before she left.

The shower is supposed to start in about an hour and a half and we were just getting done with the decorations. Procrastination practically runs in this family.

"You leaving?" Dre questioned as I grabbed my cross-body bag from the floor beside the sofa.

"Yeah, I'll be back once I'm dressed. And I have to go to the post office and pick up the gift mama ordered. Oh my God y'all are gonna love it." I gushed thinking about the travel bag that folded out into a miniature crib. It's so unique.

"I better love it. Don't come in here with no cliché ass bouncer."

I rolled my eyes as I headed to the door, hearing his footsteps follow me out.
