Chapter 16

August POV

"Alright, I'm up," I told Amaiyah as she pulled on my eyelids.

I moved my hand around the bed, looking for my phone to check the time. Once I seen it, I looked at her through the corner of my eye.

7:13am

It's too damn early for this shit. I don't even have school today and she's trying to wake me up this early.

This has been happening the last two days they've been here. Chay is the only one that's sane enough to sleep past nine.

They had come down for winter break and I just knew I had to get my shit together. That shit with Taz had been eating me up and I've just been staying to myself for the sake of not putting my bad energy on anybody else.

I miss Alijah like crazy but I know she'll force me to talk about what's bothering me. It's like she senses that kind of stuff.

I grabbed Maiyah and pulled her in the bed with me. I don't care what she or anybody else had to say say, I'm not getting up right now.

"What now?"

I laughed at her and wrapped my arms around her. "I'm sleepy Noonie. Give me two more hours, please."

"Why," She asked, throwing her leg over mine. I opened one of my eyes and looked down at her. "Okay, go to sleep. Little whiney baby."

I started to doze off after a while, but it wouldn't be my second niece if she didn't talk.

"Uncle where's your girlfriend?"

"Home."

"Oh." She said, before she gave me a good five minutes of quiet time.

"Can we watch TV. I don't wanna go to sleep, I'm not sleepy no more." She said trying to move my arms. "It's hot Uncle Aug. Can you let me go?"

"Noonie pleeeaaaasssee," I groaned letting her go.

"Where's the remote?"

"Find it."

"Get up and help me find it."

"Alright, come on. You gotta go."

I threw the cover off of me and got up from my bed.

I picked her up and took her to the living room where Kay was asleep on the couch. One of her legs was hanging off the couch and her mouth was slightly open.

"Why can't you sleep like your sisters?"

"Cause they sleepy heads and I'm not."

I place her in the recliner and gave her the remote before retreating to my room.

I woke up to all three of me nieces laying in bed with me. They must've  been watching something on TV that was hilarious because they were laughing like they had the lungs of grown men.

"Aye," I yelled, hitting the bed causing them to jump.

"Uncle Aug, stop trying to scare people," Kayden looked at me and rolled her eyes.

"Kaykay come see me."

She crawled to the head of the bed and sat on her feet.

"You want me to thump your eye?"

"No," she shook her head fast as hell. She already knew what was up.

"That's not pretty baby. Pretty girls like you don't do that."
