OMNISCIENT POV

"Aug." Alijah wearily shook August, trying to get him up. Someone had been knocking at the door for the past five minutes and Alijah wasn't trying to be the one to answer it. Her back and lower region hadn't been with the shits at all morning.

"August!"

"Ima give you a ultimatum." August spoke, eyes still closed. He hadn't been asleep. He was tired but his continuous and overwhelming thoughts had kept him up.

He had something on his chest that he needed so badly to get off but he knew it would end bad. For both him and Alijah.

"What's that?" Alijah laughed at that being the first thing he said.

"Stop touching me and yelling in my damn ear or get rolled the on the floor."

"Okay, whatever go open the damn door."

Alijah rolled over on her side, grabbing her phone from its place on the nightstand. It was powered off but she had no doubt that her parents and sisters weren't blowing her up.

Even though she'd talked to her sister the night before, she knew they wouldn't get off her back until she was back at home.

As she laid there waiting for her phone to come on she was caught off guard by the heavy impact of one of the big pillows that once adorned the bed.

"Look at karma." August chuckled, hurriedly pulling on the pants he'd worn last night. He maneuvered towards the room door still trying to get his bottoms on his legs, but failed epically when he tumbled to the floor.

"She's a mean ass bitch," Alijah laughed opening her messages, going to the group chat she shared with her family, ignoring any other messages from other people.

Pops: Meeting with Nathan today at 5. Be home soon or be there ON TIME.

Pops: 5 O'CLOCK; 5:00

Pops: ON TIME!

- OK, I understand

His messages were the only ones that stood out to her. Everyone else was only going off about her not being home or asking where she was.

Alijah had grown tired of the shit she was going through. Court, goddamn mettings with Nathan and fucking trial. It was all overwhelming. Either she was going to prison or not. That's how she felt. She just wanted it to be over already. She'd kinda accepted the fact that there was a possibility of her going down so it didn't even get to her as much as before.

She slid out of bed and grabbed her shirt from the floor, pulling it over her head before grabbing the sweats that peaked from the space under the bed.

As much as Alijah wanted to lay up all day, she couldn't. She wanted to at least see Kiyan again and also visit her grandmother before going to the meeting. It was only around nine in the morning so she had enough time to do what she wanted.

This day was dedicated to quality time with the ones she adored most. Her family. She'd thought about it earlier but with all her school work and everything she was going through with court, she had only found time for her Grandma, Lyric whenever she needed something, and of course August.

After pulling the sheets and the comforter from the bed, Alijah took them to the laundry room located at the end of the hall. August would let them sit until his mother came over and made him clean up if it was up to him.

Once she'd started the washing machine, she made a beeline to August's room expecting to see an awake and re-energized Layah, but surprisingly, she was still asleep. Layah wasn't an early bird like most kids but that was because the energy she put into the day paid off.
