Alijah POV

"Aug, stop. You're gonna drop me." I screamed as we zoomed past the many people that were walking up and down the walkway.

While everyone else was probably giving me death glares or perceiving me as some loud mouth, ghetto teenager, I was holding onto Aug's neck for dear life.

He continued to race past the stores on Melrose, resulting in me biting the tip of his ear, instantly making him slow down and finally come to a halt.

Even though we'd been out here, on Melrose, for only about four hours, he was ready to go and claimed that the only way to keep me from walking into any other stores was for me to get on his back.

Not complaining though, spare me the energy.

"What I told you about your nasty ass teeth, girl?" He said in between breaths as he dropped my right leg, touching his ear. His hand clad in about four to five bags.

"I Don't recall." I teased, picking out a piece of lint from his hair, which surprisingly wasn't covered by some type of hat today. He'd been covering it for the past few weeks and it irked me. I don't see the point in growing it out if he's just gonna wear a hat all the time.

"Let me down, please."

"Jump. Just let go." He spoke, obviously joking cause there's no way I'm just gonna hop off while he continues to walk.

He freed his full arms of my legs, causing me to tighten the grip I had on his waist and around his neck, just from the fear of falling.

"Aug."

"What's good, mamas?"

"Stop, nigga. I'm not gonna jump while you keep walking."

"Why is- grab ya' phone outta my pocket." He stopped, giving me the chance to plaster my feet onto the cement.

I pulled my vibrating phone from his pocket, seeing my dad's name displayed across the screen.

"Alijah here. How m-" I answered only to be cut off mid-sentence. How rude.

"Hey, I need you to come home. Right now, as soon as possible. How far are you from home?"

"About an hour. Is everything alright, Pops?"

"We'll talk when you get here. For now just worry about getting here."

"Sure. Talk to you later." I spoke, already hearing the three beeps before even getting the chance to hang up.

What's his problem?

"Wassup?" August intervened as we continued down the pavement, heading to the Starbucks parking lot, where he'd parked his car.

"I need to get home, like ASAP," I answered, seeing that we weren't so far from the cafe.

He nodded in response as he tried pulling his bottoms up but both his hands were full. His fault for being so stubborn.

"Aug, just let me hold these buddy. I promise I don't mind." I chuckled, reaching for the bags he held in his left hand.

"Hold up. What you doing?" He retorted, slightly pushing me to the side with his forearm.

"I'm tryna help your skinny ass. Stop being so difficult and let me hold some of the damn bags."

"Girl, be quiet."

"You're crazy, dude." I chuckled as we stopped just before a crosswalk with a few other people.

"Crazy in love," He winked, nudging my arm.
