Chapter 15

"Halo?" My mum had her usual apron on and deep worry lines etched into her face. Her hands clenched around a tea towel. Was she thinking of never letting me visit friends again?

"Why didn't you tell me you were home?" She snapped.

"Sorry, I was tired and..."

"That's no excuse. I told you if you wanted to come home then call me! How did you get home?" My mum stepped into the room, her face turning red.

"My friend came to pick me up." I murmured. How was I supposed to lie to my mum? Her intense stare was bad enough that I couldn't bring my eyes to look directly into hers.

"What do you mean?" My mum stepped to one side to let none other than Alec into the room and he was incredibly red in the face as if he had run a marathon.

"Teya did." I hoped Teya didn't mind but as long as Alec didn't find her in the room it would be okay. I was no letting Teya go back to that cell.

"Teya?" My mum frowned. "I haven't met her before have I?"

"She's new and she was already at Alec's place and she was just leaving so she dropped me off." I cut in before Alec. He glowered at me and I couldn't help but step back a little bit. His Alpha authority was making me feel weak at the knees.

"Halo! How many times have I told you not to go with strangers? Don't get into someone's car unless you know that person." My mum scolded and Alec was agreeing with her. Just whose side was he on?

"But I do know her. She's really nice and friendly." Alec scoffed at my naivety but in my defence she was amiable unlike Alec who had shoved her into that cell.

"Let me meet her and then I'll tell you whether she's nice and friendly and from now on don't get into anyone's car. Also, if you have any more friends, I'd like to meet them." My mum eyeballed me and I nodded. There was no way she'd hate Teya, she talked a lot sure but at least I knew she wouldn't stick someone in a cell. I glared at Alec who refused to leave my bedroom once my mum had stomped back down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"And leave the door open!" My mum called. Alec would have usually rolled his eyes. The last time he had and that was months ago. Ever since he found out he was going to take the Alpha position he had stopped visiting. He glanced around slowly, letting his anger dissipate.

"I see you've changed the walls." His fingers traced the black ink paintings. They were actually horribly done and any one could see I was still an amateur and the black ink was from a 2 dollar store. I sank down into the bed, I didn't have the heart to tell him to stop it. To stop looking at my artwork. I didn't want to see his expression when he looked at the lousy things. I didn't want the criticism.

"I thought you said we weren't ever going to talk again." I winced as pain flared up my back. I wasn't going to be able to sit up without pain for a while. I slowly rubbed the bruises, waiting for his answer.

"Yeah that was until you broke into my underground property and broke free a dangerous rogue." Alec's hands turned into fists and I stood up without realising it.

"She's not dangerous."

"She is and if you had the right piece of mind, you would hand her over right now."

"What makes you think I know where she is?"

"I know she was in here and there's another scent too." Darn werewolf noses. How was I going to get myself out of this mess? First I had to get Alec out of the house so then Teya could escape while trying to persuade Alec that Teya was actually not who he thought she was.
