Chapter 18

Teya's POV

"You're all clear." Alec said, yawning.

"From what?" I asked. I was still trying to get into my head the fact that I was still stuck in the pack house and there was a small part of me that didn't want to leave. Alec was still distracting me from my thoughts.

"From the death of two of our pack members and one member from Ash Thorn Pack. It wasn't you, I know that. You were with Halo the whole time. Now we just have to find out who did it." Alec sighed, running a hand through his hair. His eyes were still bloodshot from the crying. He wouldn't let me see him let his guard down. Logan on the other hand had stopped his crying and instead focused all that energy into glaring at me.

A heavy silence filled the air. Logan looked back at his food. I didn't know how to reply to the end of his sentence. I couldn't openly state out that I knew who the killer was. Alec would become mad, alpha mad. Mad enough to destroy the kitchen and become so blinded by his fury he would run along to find Finn and Anton and get himself killed. He still underestimated them and that was just what Anton wanted.

"So we're not going to school." I asked again. For the 40th time that morning, Logan glared up from his plate and Alec gave annoyed groan. It was a sudden change in weather and we forgot about the previous conversation. However I couldn't stop thinking about how many people Anton was willing to kill.

"I'd thought you would be happy about that." Alec sighed but my body was still continuing it's pacing back and forth along the length of the sturdy wooden table. I spied a fleck of dust and wiped it off occasionally.

"What am I going to do all day?" Another set of questions were equally taking up most of my headspace. What were the rogues going to do? Now that I couldn't relay my messages back to them, what was Finn going to do? Not just that, how had he gotten into Halo's room? That hadn't been the first time he entered. Why had she let him in? I couldn't believe she would let random people into her room. This was beyond frustrating.

"Anything." Alec said. "With my supervision." I rolled my eyes. What a waste of a day. I could feel a vibe of distrust coming from Alec. Was he worried I'd try to escape if we attended school? The chances were high since the school was the easiest place for him to lose me. Didn't education count as well?

"So I'm never ever going back to school?"

"I wouldn't say that. We just need you to adjust and you have to gain our trust." Alec trailed off, making me feel like his reason was just created on the spot.

"Now will you sit down?" Logan said through gritted teeth. To which I answered with ignorance. Could he not see that I was going through a stressful period?

"Logan, why don't you take your loud mouth somewhere where people actually listen to you." I muttered.

"I'm leaving." Logan gathered his things and stormed from the room.

"You have to be more friendly towards him. He's going to be the Beta after all." Alec sighed before getting out the handcuffs. Again.

I obediently held out my hands while my eyes flickered around the room. I could escape anytime I wanted but after one touch of Alec's skin, I had been edgy. It was excuse after excuse of why I shouldn't leave. I couldn't bear to look him directly in the eyes. It was this unknown power from him that kept me confined in this room.

"I'm going to be upstairs." I said curtly.

"I'm going with you." Alec said. I expected the answer I let him trail behind at a safe distance. Without school, with the rogues I usually spent time training and avoiding Anton. The leader of the rogues currently. No one respected him, only a selected few were his most trusted inflictors of pain. Now with all this spare time, I had no idea what to do with myself. I wanted to be active, somewhere to run to or something to hit.
