Chapter 27
The quiet had started to crawl up my clothes, it seeped into my skin. Soon it'd claw its way into my head and I wouldn't be anything but an empty shell. Trembling, waiting for death or pain. Maybe it wouldn't come. Maybe it would.
It seemed like forever that I had been curled up in here. Wishing and wanting for my friends. Teya, Alec, Ainslie possible Logan; but they were werewolves.
They had left me.
My fingers traced around the stains of the bed sheet. How could I have dragged myself into this mess? I was the only one who wasn't benefitting. At least Alec and Teya didn't have to worry about one of their pack members getting caught. Instead it was me who they cut all ties off completely leaving me in here to rot.
I laughed bitterly. This was the consequence of my own stupid desire to associate with the werewolf world. Why had I become so intrigued in the first place?
I shut my eyes.
No. My head wasn't going to think pessimistically. No. I didn't want to think of anything otherwise my own thoughts would turn it around. Being in here, it was driving me mad.
I looked up in surprise, I had heard something. Whistling and a harsh scraping sound. I winced, that sound wasn't at all pleasant.
"Good morning Halo. I have your present already here for you and look. I even decided to wrap it up." Anton appeared with a quiet Finn by his side. Was one side of Finn's face purple? I sat up trying to get a better look at what Finn was dragging. A white bundle that had the outline of a human figure. My gut churned up and food was threatening to spill out my lips. That wasn't a dead person was it?
"Now don't look so sick. We even brought you food." Anton kicked a tray towards me once he had unlocked the door with a kick that was attached to his belt. The tray spun across the floor, water spilled out of the cup from the force of the motion. I watched the cup tip over and most of the water spill onto the ground. Anton just laughed at my horrified expression.
I didn't want to look but that laugh made it all unbearable. Why? Why had he done that?
With one last cackle, Anton shoved the rolling bundle of white into the cell before it landed with a whump next to the tray of food.
"Have fun."
Fun!? This was his idea of fun? It made me sick. I turned away, unable to stomach food. This was a nightmare. One that I couldn't escape. The white, everything... The image was burning through my eyelids. The faint spot of red that was seeping through the bandages. Oh lord, the wound was still fresh. To think I wanted to be a nurse and I couldn't deal with a corpse.
No, that wasn't true. I couldn't see it. It was my own imaginings that are conjuring up horrible scenarios. I took a deep breath and inched towards the tray of food. For all I knew, it mightn't be a corpse and Anton brought it in here, wanting to evoke fear. I shouldn't jump to conclusions so suddenly.
I brought the silver in colour tray up to my lap. It was made of a flimsy type of metal, it wouldn't hurt anyone if I tried to hit someone with it, especially a werewolf.
They had given me two cheap plastic bowls both filled with the same contents. I didn't let my mind dwell on it, one was probably for lunch or dinner. I was surprised at the quality of the food thought. Rice with diced up vegetables and a chunk of meat. I tucked in uncertainly, it could have been poisoned. That would explain the empty cells opposite me.
I was about to eat a spoonful of rice when I notice the white bundle in front of me twitch. I thought that bundle wasn't alive or it could be my eyesight. I swallowed the rice grateful for the food. My stomach had been upset at me all through the night.
