Chapter 19

Everyone was gathered there. Teya huddled closer to her mother, finding comfort and warmth in her arms. The look on Anton's face was one that scared everyone to their bones. The room was dark and cold. Metal everywhere and the scared and scarred faces were reflected back everywhere she turned.

"Members of the Blue Dawn pack, you are because I have granted you membership into this new pack. We're are now officially a rouge pack called Shadow Thorn. Anyone who disagrees can leave right now." The beady eyes scanned through the crowd but no one objected. A smirk made its way across Anton's arrogant face. A face that Teya was going to remember for the rest of her life.

"A rouge pack! Pfft! That's a load of bull. There's no such thing as a rogue pack." One of members of the Blue Dawn pack shouted out from the back. The way Anton's eyes zeroed in on the source of that sound, Teya knew immediately, the man who shouted that sentence just dug his own grave.

A quick and calm flick of Anton's hand ordered 3 surly looking henchmen to grab the man and pull him kicking and screaming out of the room. No one dared to disobey. Everyone was frozen in fear.

"Now that's cleared up. Let's start with rules. You obey me and you don't get hurt. You will do whatever I say and you'll live to see tomorrow. This room will be your own area for sleeping and there's a bathroom for all of you. We eat together in the hall, my men will escort you." Anton finished. "And don't forget. This place is regularly patrolled, you will learn discipline and we do have various methods of sorts to make sure you stay." He gave them all an innocent smile that made shivers run along the lengths of my nerves. Teya could see the hidden fangs of that monster behind his deceiving behaviour but there was nothing she could do. She was still only a child.

That was the first day there. The days that came after were a blur. They never saw the sun or moon so they could never keep track. They were trained to fight, for what purpose, the rogues never told them. For the wolves who did try tactics to escape; were never seen again. Some people were taken and sometimes during the middle of the night, screaming could be heard. It kept Teya awake, shivering with coldness.

"Mum..." Teya shifted to her other side and feeling the cold stone freezing her skin. The thin fabric was doing nothing to protect her from the chill or the hardness.

"Teya, darling. Come here." The soft murmuring voice was half asleep but the arms of her mother wrapped themselves around her small body. The smell of urine and sweat hung in the air but behind all that was the soft and very faint lingering scent of love and roses.

A loud and horrible clanging noise came from the double doors at the end of the room, and like everything else; it was made of silver besides the handles. The harsh sound was of pots and pans slamming into each other and woke everyone up from their restless sleep.

"Mum, its morning." Teya shook the shoulders of her mother gently. A moan escaped her mother's lips as she squinted around.

"Already?" Teya nodded as all around, the sounds of werewolves stretched their sore and tired muscles. Teya's mother opened her mouth to say something when suddenly, her thin body was attacked by fits of coughs.

"Mum! Are you okay?" Teya grabbed her mother's shoulders to steady her and looked her over. No wounds. Was her mother sick?

"I'm fine, I'm fine. Just a cold." Her mum gave a small unconvincing smile. What could Teya do even if her mother had caught a cold? The rogues were heartless and unrelenting. They wouldn't have helped even if her mother was on her deathbed.
