Chapter 36

Memories drifted into my head. Some familiar and some were flashes of scenes that I didn't want to remember. Pain. Hurt. Blood and then comfort.

I screamed suddenly remembering it all. Tumbles of pain. Everywhere. No inch of my body didn't scream fire. It burned and scorched through my skin and my nerves. I couldn't see past the thick haze that had engulfed me. Sound and vibrations had burned my throat raw. My scream now sounded more of heavy grating against a rocky chalkboard.

Footsteps or were they something else. Something harsher. I wanted so badly to resist this pain but it was overriding my own thoughts. I couldn't think past it. It made everything hurt constantly. I never got a break. Wet tears trailed out of my eyes. I wanted it to stop.

"Wake up!" A voice snapped my eyes open. White ceiling blurred in my vision. The pain was numbing itself away until all that was left was a sore feeling in my muscles as if I had been using them to light heavy weights all night long.

"Where am I?" I blinked once to focus on Finn who had a frown on his face. He was here? Confusion must have been very evident on my face because he rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"You're in our hospital." Finn drawled the words out slowly. The rogue's hospital? One quick glance back up confirmed it. It wasn't a white ceiling but a pale rocky ceiling with tiny pebbles jutting out like a cave.

"Why does everything hurt now? It didn't hurt this much before." I winced as I tried to shift myself up. I didn't want to lie down anymore. I wanted a view of the whole room instead of straining the muscles in my neck.

"Must have been an adrenaline rush." Finn shrugged. He didn't look like he had been in a battle. A clean t-shirt and jeans. So what had happened?

"Teya's here to see you." He walked out without another word.

"Wait!" I gasped out but it didn't come out fast enough. I hadn't thanked him yet.

A coughing fit wracked my body from the one word. I didn't get the chance to see Finn pause at the door and then continue out. My chest ached from the effort and I collapsed back down onto the bed. I could barely use my arms and that was when I realised both of my arms were in casts. The right side wasn't as bad. The cast stopped before my elbow but covered most of my four fingers. The left arm had a full arm cast and I couldn't move my elbow at all.

"HALO!" Teya's voice echoed into the room making me wince once more. She still didn't know how to turn down the volume but I was still glad she was here. That meant she was alive and at least she was here if the rogues decided to do anything violent.

"Teya." I greeted her softly.

"Are you feeling okay? Have the rogues done anything to you at all? We'll be getting you out today and then you don't ever have to see them again." Teya bubbled away while she settled herself into a chair on my left. She looked tired. Her hair was tied back messily and a strand was sitting up in an arch on top of her head. I didn't have the heart to say anything about it though.

"I'm fine ish. I can't move any part of my body without feeling sore." I mumbled as I noticed both my legs were in casts as well. This day wasn't going as I planned.

"I'm really sorry you got caught up into this mess. After this you really don't have to talk to any of us ever again if you don't want to."

"What are you talking about? I want to keep hanging out with you. It's the most fun I've had in a long time."

"You mean getting yourself hurt?"

"Not that part." I shuddered. I didn't want to experience that ever again. There was no way I could think of rogues the same way now that I had first-hand knowledge. They were a vivid reality for me now. I couldn't ever forget about Anton, he'd forever haunt my nightmares.
