Chapter 13
"You shouldn't be here. You're human." Teya shook her head as if it were a dream. I glanced down at her hands to see the thick band of metal around her wrists. At least it wasn't silver until I saw the palms of her hands that looked burnt and bubbly. How could they have done that to her?
A hand came from nowhere and jerked me away from Teya. I whirled around to face Logan who has his lips pressed into tight frown and his face red with fury. He roughly shoved me out of the cell and resumed the lock up.
"Hey! You can't do that!" I said louder than I had expected. Adrenaline was still running through me and before I knew it, I was wrestling with Logan for the keys. He was a lot stronger than me and I knew it but I still tried my best. The other guard who I hadn't seen standing there finally leapt into action. I didn't see him coming until it was too late. He hauled me off at the same time Logan shoved me away from the keys.
The strength of both their forces combined was like a truck and my feet left the floor. My arms, legs, head were sailing across the room towards the white wall with too much force for a human. I felt my body hit the white end wall and wondered briefly if I were to bleed, would the red look pretty with the white and then I hit the ground. Gravity had done its job and I was bruised and both of my arms were sore. I didn't even bother trying to test if they were broken. Every inch of my body was too tired to move.
My neck and head didn't hurt as badly so I guessed I was still alive and through a misty haze my eyes could focus on the important things. The sound of Teya shouting words that I hardly uttered and were extremely offensive and she was now standing. I had a full view of an ankle cuff tied to the wall but was that made out of silver? I shuddered, thinking of the pain.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?! She's a human!" Teya shouted.
"Shut up Teya! Like you're one to talk." Logan scoffed and hung the keys off his belt. "Making friends with humans. How original." Logan mocked.
"Don't you care anything about her?" Teya growled softly, her hands were balled into fists and she was trembling. I hoped she didn't do anything irrational.
"She could be your ally for all I know."
"Leave Halo out of this mess. She doesn't know anything." Teya shouted, her canines were lengthening. I wondered briefly through a haze of pain what it would feel like to turn into a wolf. I wanted to stand, to defend Teya. Logan had no right to accuse her. She hadn't done anything wrong and she wasn't my ally. She was my friend. My hands went underneath my body and supported all my weight. My shoulders were terribly sore and I had to grit my teeth just to lift my head up.
"Leave Teya alone!" I shouted out and all heads turned to me. My knees were getting the shakes. I had never been so grateful for the white wall in my life and my whole body had to lean on it for support otherwise I would've crumbled. My breathing became laboured over three words and I knew I was in a bad shape. I just hoped Logan would see reason and come to his senses.
"Why can't humans ever stay out of..." Logan cursed out loud. Suddenly a large puff of purple smoke dispersed throughout the whole room. Cries echoed form all the other inmates and dimmed as quickly as they had surfaced. I saw Logan widen his eyes before he slumped to the ground followed by the other guard. Teya was already prepared, holding her breath but I couldn't. Not when I needed to gasp just to stand. Soon the purple mist engulfed me.
A dark indigo colour floated past my eyes and stayed there like a hovering cloud and I felt tired. Too tired for myself to stand. If I just fell asleep for a few seconds, I'd have more energy for later. Yes, that was what I'd do. I let myself fall, ready to catch a few minutes of rest.
I blinked groggily, something was in my face. I turned my head and my nose bumped into smooth fabric, warm and it smelt really good. I blinked again and caught a view of a male from the side. Black hair and white tips. What was he doing here? But the purple was coming back. Either way, I felt safe in his arms. As long as nothing bad was happening, I let myself snooze off again.
Where was that smell? I turned only to meet fluff. I batted it out of the way but it came rebounding back. A big patch of pink hit my face and I struggled to breath for a moment. Where was I?
I looked up to see a ceiling that looked exactly like the one in my bedroom. I flipped over.
I was in my bedroom and so were Finn and Teya. They had made themselves comfortable in the middle of my bedroom, Finn looking relaxed and at ease, sitting on my chair and Teya glaring at everything without making eye contact with Finn.
"Uh... Can someone tell me what's going on?" I asked, my voice no louder than a whisper. I didn't know what time of day it was but I was going to be in so much trouble if my parents found out, I had both Teya and Finn in my bedroom, both of which are rogue werewolves and my parents have never met them before. Ever!
"Oh, you're awake." Finn said, pretending to look pleasantly surprised.
"Why were you in that cell? What happened?" I directed my questions to Teya who would provide me with more information than I thought Finn would.
"I wanted to talk to Alec." Teya said defiantly with her chin up, daring Finn to accuse her of something but he didn't. He just swivelled back and forth, still looking pleasantly pleased.
"And?"
"It backfired. He wasn't there and I got caught. You know how packs don't..." Teya's eyes suddenly grew larger and she was sitting upright.
"What?" I wouldn't mind if she cared to share the sudden realisation with us. She stared at me in surprise and then I realised about my slip. I had just assumed Teya and Finn knew I knew about werewolves. They didn't know yet.
"I forgot you knew about werewolves." Teya murmured but I could see the wheels turning in her head. She was linking altogether different bits and pieces. But how did Teya find out? Finn didn't have an ounce of bewilderment on his face so I guessed he knew too.
"How did you find out?" I gasped. If they knew, what if other people had guessed? Then I'd be in a super deep mud puddle. Alec was going to kill me.
"I was spying on you."
"I read your diary."
I had never felt so violated in my life. I threw the covers over my head, wondering if this was all a dream. I could feel the humiliation and embarrassment working its way up my face. Why was this all happening to me? Exactly what did they know? Scratch that, what didn't they know already? I felt like they had stripped me down and knew all my secrets that I had kept hidden which weren't many but still. They were precious and now it felt like I knew nothing and just another empty shell washed up on the beach.
"Okay wow! Didn't realise you were so sensitive about that." Teya muttered.
"He read my diary!" I hissed through the blanket. How dense could Teya get? My diary held all my secrets and knew everything and he read it. How much did he read? This was the most mortifying experience ever.
"Okay point taken. Do you want me to bash him up for you? Will that make you feel better?" Teya asked. I groaned to myself, she was going to destroy my bedroom if that happened. I knew what destruction a werewolf fight left behind.
"Just leave me alone."
"Okay but call us if any deep sh*t comes in your direction." Teya patted the blanket softly but I didn't budge. Was that the front door opening? I lifted the edge of the blanket quickly to see Finn and Teya eyeball each other and split up. Finn gracefully eased the window open, quieter than I have ever done it and slipped outside like a nimble cat.
"Show off." Teya mumbled through slitted eyes. Her hands curled then uncurled before she took in a deep breath. Did she resent Finn? But then why was she working with him? He did rescue the both of us. The cupboard door shut and the last ribbon of Teya's ripped clothing disappeared behind the door. I quickly jumped up as I realised the window was still open and went to shut it just as my bedroom door flew open.
Thank you so much for all the reads!! It's been an awesome surprise for me! Now all I need is a few more votes or comments, it would really make my day. Even if it's advice or critique or some spelling or grammatical errors.
Please tell me right away, thank you!
