Three Days Later
The suitcase stood by the door, heavy and silent, much like the atmosphere in the apartment. For three days, Jungkook had lived in a vacuum. He had watched the clock, checked his phone, and stared at the walls, waiting for a knock that never came. He told himself it was better this way. If they didn't come, it meant they were busy being happy. It meant Taehyung and you were too caught up in your newfound peace to notice the void he had left behind. But as he stood in the center of his living room, the silence began to feel like a heavy weight, a cold confirmation that he had truly become a secondary character in his own life. Still, he forced a small, sad smile. He was okay with being forgotten if it was the price of your smile.
He took a deep breath, gripped the handle of his suitcase, and turned toward the door. He was ready to disappear, to take his love and his regrets to a different city, a different life. But the moment he pulled the door open, his heart nearly stopped.
There was no empty hallway waiting for him. Instead, he was met with a sea of familiar faces, a crowd so large they were practically spilling into each other. Jin stood at the front, his arms crossed over his chest with an expression that was half-scolding and half-relieved. Beside him was Irene, her eyes soft but knowing, while Namjoon, Soobin, and Yoongi stood like a protective wall. Even Veronica, Jiyeon, and Woobin were there, their presence making the narrow hallway feel like the most crowded place on earth. And right there, tucked safely beside Taehyung, was you.
Jungkook froze, his hand tightening on his suitcase until his knuckles turned white. He couldn't process it. He had spent seventy-two hours convincing himself he was alone, only to find the entire world waiting on his doorstep. Before he could even stammer out a question, the group surged forward, a collective force that pushed him backward. They didn't ask for permission; they simply entered, flooding his quiet apartment with their noise, their scent, and their overwhelming presence...
Taehyung was the last to walk in, closing the door behind him with a definitive click that signaled Jungkook wasn't going anywhere. He stepped toward his younger brother, his expression unreadable for a moment before it softened into that deep, brotherly concern that Jungkook had missed more than he realized. He reached out, his hand landing heavily and firmly on Jungkook's shoulder, anchoring him to the spot.
"Planning to leave all alone? That's not a very good thing, Kook," Taehyung said, his voice low but carrying a sharp edge of reprimand. He squeezed Jungkook's shoulder, his eyes searching his brother's face. "Did you really think we'd let you just vanish after everything? Did you think we were so busy being happy that we forgot who gave us that happiness?"..
You really thought you could just slip out the back door?" Jin barked, already heading for the kitchen to inspect the bare fridge. "No goodbye meal? No dramatic airport chase? I didn't came here for this Jungkook-ah."
"We've been planning this intervention for two days," Namjoon added, his voice warm but firm. "We gave you space, but we weren't going to give you an exit."
Jungkook looked around the room, his vision blurring. Yoongi leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. "Stay, Jungkook. The friends circle isn't the same without you hovering over everyone's shoulder. We need you here."...
"We love you, hyung, although i still annoyed because you destroyed hyung relationship but still you are the only one who brings happiness in his life , that's why I started to like you too," Soobin muttered, looking at the floor to hide his own watery eyes. "Don't go where we can't see you." Hearing him Jungkook gave him small smile..and then
Jungkook's gaze finally landed on You. You wasn't crying, but your eyes held a depth of sorrow that cut him deeper than any lecture. You looked at him with a mix of guilt and profound empathy. As you knew he had spent years of his life anchored to a version of you that was in love with him, and you felt the weight of every second he had lost. You forgave him for the secrets because you understood the desperation that birthed them...but what about the pain you gave him when he was away living in your dreams while you were falling in love with other man..
