My biggest fear shakes my world
To be found out for who I truly am
Just your average, next-door girl
A rock masquerading as a gem
Embellishing the unremarkable
Living life in the pretend
I used to dream of this moment
I was ignorant, impatient
Like I thought I would transcend
Oh! I knew I would be big somehow!
I gave myself until twenty five
As if my life would be perfect by now
That age came and went today
Falling very short from perfect
As the month turned to May
The girl who hides behind her dreams
Became just another face
Nothing special, or so it seems
