I only know you through my past
Every moment added in collection
Boxed-in, truth-based, schemas of you
Your qualities divided into sections
File cabinets of previous events
Remembered sights and smells
Hair color, perfume choice
The way you walked, held your purse
Words you said written in my head
The worst you've said to me
Among words of the very best
Unnecessary details I recall
The summer we spent so close
How you put on lipstick
The dance you tried to dance
Every season's suntans
Golden bronze perfectly kissed
Don't know how I remember, but I remember
Your favorite color that fall
The first time I saw you lie
Every smile, teardrop seen
Down to your laugh classified
Detailing your half smirk
The times you covered your laugh
But I know nothing about you
As I see you before me
Shattering the picture in my head
Today you stand as someone new
Sweeping all my stored notes
You are no longer, you
An unfamiliar scent, the perfume you have changed
Eyes of judgement marred by pain
A tongue speaking fire and rage
Destroying books you wrote
Rewriting page by page
But please, leave my book of you
For a truth that once was
A magical portrait
The lamb of the flock
Will be remembered
For you will be taught
A lesson in grace and sincerity
The person I remember, you will be
