Chapter song~ My dear by Matty Mullins
The next morning I wake up to Ashs hands in my hair softly playing with the dark curls. He has a sleep filled smile as he watches me stretch, yawn, and wake up. I turn to face him and bury my face in his shirt. It smells like him, fresh pine and waterfalls. He kisses the top of my head and hugs me tight not letting go. We sit there for a few minutes until theres a loud pounding on the cellar door.
He releases me and sits up giving me a warm smile,
"I'll go see who it is."
I grab his arm shaking my head and pulling him back down to lay beside me.
"No, dont go."
I smile sleepily at him and he laughs softly before kissing me gently. The banging on the door gets increasingly louder and more violent. He frowns getting up and walking out of the room to answer the door. I stretch my arms above my head and arch my back before getting up. I pull on a pair of black skinny jeans and pull my shirt off over my head. I had just hooked my bra on when I heard a crash. I quickly throw on a t-shirt and run out into the hall hearing loud growls. I stumble on the bumpy ground barefoot and run up the steps to right outside the cellar door where two large wolves, one white and one black, fighting each other. I yell,
"Hey! Knock it off!"
Ash looks at me and the white wolf, Sasha, latches onto his throat while he's distracted. He viciously claws at her back shreding her sides until she lets go. Both are panting and bleeding heavily from various gashes and bite marks. Sasha walks a few paces off before collapsing and begins to lick her wounds. Ash lays on the ground panting heavily and I run over tears making their way down my face.
"Hey, look at me, stay awake, look at me Ash."
I cradle his head in my lap crying softly and stroking his fur. His green eyes are half closed and watching me but not really seeing me. I press a soft kiss on the top of his head and I freeze hearing a low growl from behind me.
"This is your fault you stupid bitch, he's better off without you. You dont know how much trouble you've caused within our pack for him."
Sasha, back in her human form and still greatly injured, snarls at me angrily. I set Ash's head down gently and spin to face her. My body trembles with anger as I yell back,
"How dare you. How dare you come here, attack your own brother, almost kill him, then blame it all on me? How fucking dare you? You have no right, I dont give a shit about what you or your pack thinks about me!"
"Oh what bullshit! You know you can't be together, and honestly he's too good for you anyways... I've seen him do much prettier, yes much prettier, smarter, and alot less mouthy... There was that one blonde though, the one he was engaged to... I wonder where she is right now? He'll always fall for a pretty face, but as soon as he gets what he wants he's gone, just like that... He's done it before he'll do it again."
I suck in a breath and my eyes burn with unshed tears. I turn away refusing to let her see me falter. She growls seeing the crack she created in my fasade and shifts back into her wolf form already half healed going in for the kill. She crouches somewhere behind me and pounces. I jump off to the side but she clips my shoulder and knocks me to the ground. I roll onto my back as the white wolf pins me down snarling in my face. I simply close my eyes and turn my head away knowing theres nothing I could do to stop her from killing me, even if I wanted to.
I lay there, feeling her hot breath fan across my face reeking of rotten meat. Out of nowhere, the weight of the wolf on me disipates, I hear a loud growl, a whimper, and a painful sounding crack all in the matter of seconds. I scramble up off the ground and see Ash standing over his sisters breathing but immoble body. I run back into the cellar and shove all my belonging back into my bag as quickly as I can. I pull on my boots and grab my car keys running my hand over the silky fabric of my dress one last time. I regretfully leave it behind as I run out of the cellar and make a break for my car. Ash, now human, healed and clothed, calls out and chases me.
