Chapter song~
Ronda hands me my schedule and we're off to meet my teachers. My schedule goes like this.
1) Biology honors
2) Critical writing and journalism
3) Geometry 3 advanced
4) Lunch
5) Intermediate elective (haven't chosen yet)
6) World history
7) English literature
8) Gym
I'm not complaining, but I fucking hate history and science, they're like, the worst two subjects I could get. At least I have gym last.
I look up and she's already walking away, telling me to hurry and follow. I sigh and rush to catch up to her.
By the time we've meet all my teachers, i'm exhausted. Its only noon here but at home, its close to midnight, tomorrow.
I thank Ronda for helping me and I walk back to my apartment.
I take a shortcut through the woods, I know I shouldn't but I enjoy the silence. As I walk, I start to hear a loud roaring sound. I walk towards it wondering what it could possibly be.
I find the source of the sound. Its one of the most beautiful waterfalls I think I've ever seen.
Its about as tall as a two story house, and the water is crystal clear. Surrounding the pool of water are rocks that are huge, and they are smooth and flat. The whole thing is surrounded by green, and multicolored flower bushes and trees. I can hear and smell a lot of animals nearby. The water tumbles down from a cliff that I could easily climb. All its made of is a wall of rocks, easy hand and foot holds.
I go and stand by the edge of the water and listen, but what I don't hear is the wolf that walks up behind me.
It gives out a low growl and I shriek, completely startled and my memory snaps back to when I was nine, and attacked by a whole pack.
My eyes widen and I stumble backwards into the water a little. When the wolf sees this, it immediately lies down as if to say sorry for scaring you.
I take a step out of the water and back onto the bank. I frown, trying not to be scared.
"Go away, I don't have anything for you."
"I know." It responds.
I jump back again, completely freaked out.
"What the hell."
"What? Oh ya sorry, I forget people aren't used to hearing wolves talk. Gimme a second."
It stands and walks off into the woods. I tilt my head slightly, wondering what is going on here.
When the wolf walks back out, its no longer a wolf, but a guy dressed in a white t-shirt and swimming shorts. I realize he's a werewolf and I immediately feel stupid for not guessing it earlier. He comes over to me, holding out his hand. I remember the main rule that my parents gave me though, never talk to werewolves, but maybe this ones different. Nice, even.
"My names Ash, you are?"
I shake his hand, ignoring red flags going off in my head.
"I'm Jade."
"Nice to meet you Jade, never heard of you, new here?"
"Yes, I transferred over from France."
"Oh, I should have guessed with the accent and all. How do you like it so far?"
"Its alright I guess, very different from home."
"I could imagine so. I'm also guessing your that vampire chick, first one ever here right? Lotta talk about you."
"It seems like it, and oh great, reputation before I even get here, perfect."
He laughs.
"It's not bad, I promise. Anyways, I was just going for a swim, care to join?"
"Um, no thanks, if you didn't notice i'm not exactly dressed for swimming."
He shrugs.
"Whatever, your loss."
With that, he takes off his shirt and throws it onto a nearby rock, then jumps in with a front flip. I try my best not to stare. Instead, I take off my boots and socks and put them where they cant get wet.
I walk over to a sunny rock and sit down on it, I roll up my jeans a little and skim my feet over the surface of the water. Its surprisingly warm.
I watch Ash swim around for a moment, then I lay back on the rock and look up at the clouds. I almost forget where I am for a moment until I feel a hand on my ankle.
Ash grabs my ankles and pulls me off the rock into the water. I come up and he's laughing. I start laughing too and push hair out of my face.
"What the hell was that for?"
"No particular reason, just thought it would be funny. Your not one of those girls who get mad if you even mess up a single strand of their hair right?"
"Hell no, I couldn't care less about my hair, its crazy either way, and I don't get mad over things like this, its actually quite funny."
We both laugh and swim around, pulling each other under water.
"Here, watch this." I say and dive to the very bottom.
I kick off the ground as hard as I can and torpedo through the water, shooting through the surface and high into the air, landing with a huge splash.
I come back up for air and Ash is staring at me, uncomfortably.
"What?"
"Nothing, that was pretty cool. And your much more fun than I thought a vampire would be."
"And your much kinder than the last weres I encountered. I guess this proves that not everyone is subjected to the stereotypes of their kind."
He laughs.
"Quite true."
We laugh and go back to swimming.
