I can pretty much hear the stampede of girls rushing towards Ash, so I take several steps back.
They all surround him, all talking at once. I laugh and raise an eye brow, he just looks desperate to get away from them.
He shouts over the crowd of females.
"Be my partner?"
I laugh, "Sure."
He sighs, relieved, as the now grumbling crowd of girls run to get another partner.
"Thanks, I owe you one Jade."
"No problem, it was funny."
"It's all funny until its a swarm of guys begging for you, but I'll be there to fight them off, no worries." He teases.
I snort, "Ya rightttt, when that happens in an alternate universe."
"Your kidding me right?"
"What?"
"Have you looked at yourself lately? Your, like, one of the most gorgeous things I've ever layed eyes on. I'd normally use one of those lines likes, I think heaven's missing an angel or some stupid crap like that, but I can already tell they wouldn't work on you."
I feel my face heat up, and he laughs at me.
"Sorry, I just remembered you hate the spotlight."
"It's fine, i'm used to dealing with it."
"So I can see."
He points to my red cheeks, I stick my tongue out at him.
"Jerk."
"I know."
We laugh and walk away from the bleachers and into the dance area.
They start playing that stupid slow dance music and all the guys hold us girls at an arms distance, even Ash.
The coaches yell at the guys to get closer, girls don't bite, I snicker, saying
"But I might."
We laughs and he pulls me closer, putting his hands hesitantly on my hips. I roll my eyes and put my hands behind his neck.
"Not so tough when it comes to dancing huh." I tease.
He laughs, "No, not really."
We're silent for a few moments ad the song goes on and we all dance slowly. Finally, I break the silence, asking
"Is the history teacher always such an asshole about vampires?"
"Oh, you got him? That bites. He's one of the few teachers that didn't want to change the rules. He's a douche bag, don't worry about it. The rest of the staff are a lot nicer about the whole situation, promise."
"Ya, I don't know what bit his balls this morning but he's a complete jerk. He was lecturing our class about why they expelled all vampires in the first place. Some huge massacre of the city, or something like that."
"Really? He talked about that? What a complete douche. You should give him hell in class."
"I'll see what I can do, troubles my middle name."
We laugh and all the girls twirl out, then back in, with their backs against their partners chest.
"I hate to imagine the dances you all had to learn before these."
"Ya, it was pretty bad.... we did things like the salsa and other cultural shit like that."
I laugh, "That sucks big time... I took dance lessons when I was little, like ballet and tap and jazz, but so does every other 5-7 year old girl. I can dance, but its hardly ever enjoyable unless it has good music."
"That's true. I have a sister who did dance when she was little too, she lives with my parents a few hours away from here. Her names Sasha, maybe I'll give her a call to come visit soon."
"That's cool, didn't know you had siblings. I have an older brother, Mathew, a twin sister, Lilly, two younger brothers, Daniel and Sam, and a baby sister Amelia."
"Damn, there's another one of you? God, I'll die in paradise."
I swat his arm, saying
"Don't even go there, we may look alike, but we're polar opposites. She's a complete bitch. We've had way to many guy problems before, don't need anymore."
"Guys have mistaken one for the other? Shit, that's awful, i'm sorry. That's gotta suck, having someone who looks exactly like you enough to where even your boyfriend cant tell the difference."
"Tell me about it...."
We lapse back into silence and sway in time to the music. I lay my head on his chest and look around at the other pairs of dancers. I suppress a loud laugh when I see Rebecca dancing with a blond guy, but staring right at me. Great, my first enemy.
When the song finally ends, we step apart and the coaches tell us to go walk the track. I start walking, but realize I don't know where I'm going. I turn around to see Ash with his arms crossed laughing at me. I go over and punch him lightly in the arm, sticking my tongue out at him.
"Jerk."
"Yeah yeah I know I know. I'm terrible."
I roll my eyes and follow him out to the track.
