chapter song~ Bring me to life by Evanescence

Ash pov.

"Jade?! What the hell!"

is all I can manage to yell as she collapses and starts screaming. I catch her before she hits the ground and I set her down gently. She points at the scratches, unable to speak, whimpering in pain.

I'm so pissed off, but worried at the same time. Here is this pretty, mysterious, new girl passed out in my arms because my ex girlfriend poisoned her most likely with revein, only known poison to vampires. What the hell did I bring her into? What the hell am I supposed to do?

At this point, I can see the veins in her arm darkening to an almost black as the poison travels through the blood, and its moving fast. She surely can't fight this so I have to do something.

I know I have to get the revein out someway, I just don't know how. I'm starting to panic now, she's been passed out for at least six minutes now and i'm not sure if she's breathing. I'm desperate at this point, so I try something I saw in a movie once.

I pull out my pocket knife I always have with me and grab her arm, and cut deep, hoping that the bleeding will get the revein out. I get up and grab a towel out of the bathroom, wrapping her arm in it.

I don't think there's anything else I can do at this point, so I check for a pulse. Do vampires even have pulses? I mean, they are technically dead right? I'm surprised when I do find a pulse, but a very faint one.

I pick Jade up and set her on the bed, doing my very best to be careful. I watch as slowly the dark color recedes from the veins in her arm and disappear all together. I sigh in relief but I know she's not out of dark yet.

I start thinking, what the hell did I just do? Like, I don't even know what effects this could have on her. Damn it, i'm so stupid sometimes, I seriously gotta start thinking before I do whatever just for a pretty face. But I can't really help it, she's so....

I shake myself, nope. Can't go there. Cant take advantage of the new girl, after all, I know how it feels to be the new kid, it sucks.

I take the towel off to look at her arm. The scratches are virtually gone, and all that's left is the cut, which is healing quickly. I sigh in relief again.

Soon after, she takes a deep breath and wakes up with a start, coughing. She lays back down and takes a few breaths to calm down. She says,

"What in fucking gods name was that?"

I cant help but laugh a little, even though I shouldn't.

"Revein poisoning."

"Damn it, i'm gonna kill that fucking bitch."

"I'll help, after your better... How do you feel?"

"Just fine, thanks to you. What did you do anyways?"

"I, uh, cut your arm to get the revein out. Then wrapped it and put you on the bed. You've been passed out for about fifteen minutes."

"You don't understand how grateful I am. Thank you so much, I would've died if I'd been here alone."

She looks so grateful and pissed off at the same time, I kinda found it funny, but I don't laugh.

"No problem, all in a days work of being superman" I joke.

She laughs, a warm, adorable sound. Polar opposite from Rebecca. How could she possibly do this to Jade? How could I have dated that monstrosity? Damn, she's a real bitch....

"Well, know that i'm apparently poison free thanks to superman, how bout a party at a waterfall?"

"Don't you think you should rest, having almost died and all a few minutes ago?"

She shrugs,

"I feel perfectly fine now, I should be fine."

"Okay, you better hope so cause its only one ticket per damsel in distress a day."

We laugh and she gets up, coming over and wrapping her arms around me.

"Thank you Ash."

I hug her back,

"Your welcome Jade."

We get our things and walk out the door, she locks it behind us. I know I shouldn't get involved with her, its against the rules, but she's so cute and funny. No one could understand how much internal conflict I have about the whole situation.

We start walking to the waterfall and she launches into a story about swimming in a lake back in France on her families property.
