Chapter song~ Dangerous by Shamans harvest

When I wake up, everything is dark. Pitch black. At first, I think maybe the blanket is just over my head or something, so naturally I try to move it. I find that my hands are tied with revein saturated rope. I hiss lightly at the stinging in my wrists and ankles and I pull at the restraints. I hear heavy footsteps and a gruff, muffled voice say,

"Hey, uh, boss, she's wakin' up."

I don't hear a response, but lighter footsteps head my way stopping in front of me somewhere. Suddenly everything is filled with bright light, I turn my head squinting until my eyes can adjust.

When they finally do, I take a look around my surroundings starting with the man squatting in front of me. Slightly older, I'd say around mid fiftys, dark hair greying around the temples, dark eyes and light skin. He stands and brushes away imaginary wrinkles in his immaculate suit. He gives me a broad false smile,

"I apologize for the... Lack of hospitality, but let me introduce myself. My name is Jordan, and I run the hunters society, but of course I'm sure you already know that. Your a smart, resourceful girl, aren't you Jade?"

Without pausing for me to even begin asking questions, he continues.

"Now, I'm sure you have many questions, but they will just have to wait a little bit. I must apologize again about the restraints but we can't afford to take any chances, I'm sure you understand. Now, before anything else, let me explain to you why your here... You are a prime example of a good vampiric citizen, am I right? Your very humane, you only take what you need, only when you need it, that's wonderful. Unfortunately, we here can't have that happening, more and more vampires are becoming like you, tame. If we were to let that happen, we'd be out of a business, our main income comes from hunting wild vampires going on rampages, if they don't go crazy we don't have the right to rid the world of your filth."

He clasps his hands together behind his back, that same fake grin plastered on his face. He starts walking back and fourth, I watch him warily, my legs taunt and ready to kick even bound together if I have to. I don't know if he can tell I will attack in defense or if he's just getting bored, but he gets to the point.

"Look, Jade, its nothing personal, at least not with me, but if you listen a bit to your right, you'll find someone who takes this quite seriously."

I give him a strange look before tilting mg head slightly to the left straining to listen. Then I hear it loud and clear and another large looking guard drags someone into the room, letting them drop to the floor with a soft groan. Its Mark, or what's left of him. He looks as if he picked a fight with a semi truck, and lost. He isnt restrained, but I can tell he doesn't have the strength to go anywhere. Then the smell hits me, sickly sweet with a hint of bitter tanginess. Hunters blood. Genetically different than humans, much easier to get addicted too. I squeeze my eyes shut and turn my head away from my best friend, not wanting to see him in pain, or look at his blood.

"Now, Mark was sent here on a mission like any other. Hunt, kill, dispose, repeat. But then you show up and we loose contact for days, then I come to find he's been out partying and housing with the exact thing he was sent here to kill. How do you suppose I feel about that, hmm? Well I'll tell you I don't take to kindly to my hunters running off track from their missions, and now you both have to pay the price."

Mark tries to pick himself off the floor, only to receive another kick to the stomach, he coughs violently and I can hear him struggling to breath. I pull against the ropes through the burn to no evail besides recieving a backhand across the face. I hiss and snap at it earning me a swift kick to the ribs as well. I let out a warning growl and Jordan let's out a harsh, cold laugh.
