Chapter song~ My heart is broken by Evanescence

I run inside hoping he got home alright, but freeze in the doorway when I hear sobs. I only see Mark's mom and dad.

I go up to his mom and ask her "Where's Mark?" She pulls me into a hug, and the releases me, wiping tears off her face. Then slowly, she tells me something I'll never forget.

"Jade, Mark never came home... He was attacked and killed by the same pack of wolves that tried to kill you.... I'm sorry Jade..."

Her voice cracks and she starts to sob again, I sit there numbly unable to believe what i'm hearing. I didn't realize I had started crying until my mom hands me a tissue.

I ignore it and run upstairs into my room, slamming and locking the door. I collapse on my bed and cry silently into my pillow until there are no more tears left and I drift into a dreamless sleep.

I wake up to someone knocking on my door. Its annoying and loud. I sigh and push myself up, asking "Who is it?"

"It's Lilly...."

I unlock the door and open it just enough for her to come in, then I close it again. I lay back down and she lays next to me.

She asks me to tell her exactly what happened, so I start at the beginning.

"We were In the tree house, like any normal day. After awhile, we climbed back down and started walking home until we heard a low growl coming from the bushes nearby."

"Mark grabbed my hand as a pack of wolves came running out. Four males, three females, and two pups. And we started running."

"Mark was dragging me along because he was faster. That's when the pack leader attacked me and I stumbled, losing my grip on his hand."

"He came back and helped me, and we kept on running. We reached the edge of the dark forest, where no one dares to enter. I told him to go, and finally he did. I hid in the tree's but they found me."

"The pack leader dragged me out, and the rest sat around as if watching and waiting. The pups stared eagerly and the females watched for any enemies..... I was sure I was going to die..." I trail off unable to keep going, she knows the rest.
