Chapter song~ Everything has changed by Taylor swift
Eight years later....
I step off the plane and hurry to go find my bag, following the signs above my head.
I'm anxious.... I've never been to America alone before, I've always come with my parents and my siblings.
Nervously but excitedly, I find my bags and look for the driver my parents arranged to pick me up at take me to the school.
I find the driver and he takes my bags, leading me out to the car. Its an unusual looking car based on what I usually drive back at home in France.
He holds the door open and I get in, then he closes it. I tap my fingers on my lap, nervous to see the school as the man, I think his names John, drives through a town.
When we finally arrive at the school, i'm instantly intimidated by its size. Its two stories high and close to the size of a college campus. I'm joining this school halfway through the year so I have a lot of catching up to do. John parks the car in front of the school and lets me out, setting my bags next to me on the stairs. I thank him and give him a twenty, watching him drive away.
I bite my lip, a bad nervous habit, and walk through the double doors at the top of the stairs. I go up to the main desk and set my bags down. A woman looks up from behind a computer screen and smiles, saying
"Hello! How can I help you?"
I remember that Americans smile often and I respond in the best English I can do, and I studied hard for this.
"Hello, i'm a transfer student from France, my names Jade Castello."
I hand her some papers I had to fill out and she leads me to an office behind the desk, I pick up my bags and follow her.
She has me sit in a room full of chairs and tells me to wait here.
She's gone for a few moments, then she comes back with another lady. she introduces herself as principal Alonda.
Principal Alonda says I can leave my bags here and she would take me on a tour of her "lovely school."
I suppress a snort of laughter and follow her. She starts asking me questions like,
"So, Jade, your from France correct?"
"Yes."
"How do you like the United States so far?"
"It's alright, I've been here before, just always with my parents and siblings."
"Are they all vampires as well?"
"Most of them, yes."
"How does it feel to be the first vampire to attend this school?"
"Umm, I don't know..."
"So your here all alone, in a new country, with new people, culture and language?"
"Yes."
"Interesting, well, if you ever need anything or have any questions don't be afraid to ask." she smiles and I give her a half smile back.
We finish the tour of the school and we walk back to the main office in silence, her heels clicking loudly echoing off the empty halls. I pick up my bags and she hands me a pair of keys.
"These are the keys to your door room, don't loose them. Ronda, the woman you met earlier will show you there. Glad to have you at our school Jade."
She pats my hand and walks off into her office.
