Order My Steps

Lord, my chest is heavy.
I come to You as humbly as I can,
asking You to guide me,
asking You to order my steps.

I am far from perfect,
so shape me in Your light, Lord.
Teach me the way I should go.
Draw me closer to You.

Show me what You need me to be
and who You are calling me to become.
And, Lord, I ask that You lift
the burdens resting heavily
upon my chest at night.

Hear me when I say,
"I am tired of being strong."
Hear me when I confess
that I am holding on
only because of You, Lord.

I know that You love me.
I know You do not abandon me
when the road grows long.
And though I have heard
that You give Your strongest battles
to Your strongest warriors,

Lord, I am still on my knees—
with a heart so heavy
it hurts to exhale,
with worries so enormous
I am afraid I will fail.

Still, I place them in Your hands.
Still, I lift my eyes toward You.
Still, I ask You to strengthen me
when I cannot strengthen myself.

Lord, I want to make You proud.
Make my life a reflection of Your grace.
Order my steps, steady my heart,
and lead me home to You.
