Chapter Seventeen: Nico

TWO MINUTES BEFORE TOUCHDOWN

"JASON?!" Nico yelled on the top of his lungs. He waited for several seconds to hear his reply. Although he still seemed weak and fazed about this past couple of weeks, he still managed to make his voice audible enough for Sparky to hear him. When he didn't reply for several seconds, Nico tried shouting again, which seemed to tear his throat apart.

"Jason Grace!" He shouted once again, gripping his throat to avoid himself from choking on his spit.

"What in blazes--?" Jason asked in a loud voice, coming from the hallway. "I was in a middle of doing something in the restroom!" He added, fixing his collar and gripping his sword on the other. He seemed a little annoyed. And it made Nico feel a little bad. Everybody had locked themselves up in their cabin, doing gods-know-what for the last five minutes, except him. Him staying in Percy's cabin made him feel really guilty and more alone than he'd ever felt in his whole entire life. And yeah, that didn't really help him keep his cool.

It just made him more agitated.

Nico shook the thought away. He couldn't afford crying in front of Jason, the conqueror and stuff. And if he did cry in front of him, it would just risk his chance of proving himself to Jason and earn his trust. What if he just broke down in the midst of combat? Yeah, so much for leading them to Epirus.

Nico turned around to face him and pointed at the scenery that stretched far in the distance. "Look."

Jason stood beside him, their shoulders almost touching. And if Nico felt that powerful aura Jason was radiating everytime he was in Percy's cabin, he sure felt it ten times much more stronger now due to their closeness. Everything about him was just pure energy. Pure power. Even seeing him just standing there beside him like a normal person, he always seemed liked the one in charge. Even if Percy was in this ship. That son of Poseidon was a different story. He was a lot, goofier, and troublemaking, and you'd never expect him to fight like a freaking hurricane in the middle of battle.

But to Jason, it just felt natural. And it felt overwhelming.

The Roman's face fell when he saw at what was waiting below them. Nico saw two hundred Romans angrily and agitatingly waiting for them to touchdown. They all circled around the ship just like a group of papparazzi waiting for their autograph.

Jason's eyes dilated. He then ran through the hallway and knocked furiously at each doors.

"Now's the time to kick some Roman booty, you guys!" Nico heard Jason yell through the corridor. Then he heard Piper's high-pitched voice talking furiously at Jason. Then he heard a couple more footsteps emerging from the hallway, Hazel's, Coach Hedge's and Frank's. The sound of their footsteps grew louder and louder until the five of them emerged on deck and joined Nico to take a good look at the scenery.

"Front row tickets to our imminent death. Genius." Frank muttered.

"Great, thank you so much, Frank." Jason addressed to him. "You make us feel so much better."

Frank just shrugged at him and looked away, looking at the camp that's getting nearer into view. A few seconds after, Leo's voice once again boomed from the intercom. "Okay guys, I see a bunch of angry--"

"We know already!" Piper shouted, looking furiously at the speaker on the wall adjacent to them. "Shut up and go over here." She yelled, cutting Leo mid-sentence.
