Chpater 26
Sunday: the day before I left for New York. I was panicking like hell and still hadn’t decided if I was going or not. My friends and family had encouraged me but I was still new to this concept and wasn’t ready to embrace it. For the past week I’d been drinking a lot of blood and now I was used to the taste but that didn’t mean I thought it was normal. Aaron hadn’t left my side since I’d told him about my trip to New York claiming that he wanted to spend as much time with me before I left. After spending a lot of time with him, I’d gotten used to him and knew I’d miss him. However although he was my mate I still thought of him as a good friend.
“So what do you think?” Mr Saltzman asked breaking me out of my extremely long train of thought. Me, Aaron, Mr Saltzman and my mum were currently seated in the living room. “I......I really don’t know” I replied honestly. My mum sighed.
“Honey you have to decide. You only have one day left before he comes” she advised referring to my biological mother.
“I know........I know I should go but.............it’s weird because I’ve never met them” I said once again. She gave me a sad smile.
“Ok, here’s what you should do, pack all your things and then when he comes tell him whether you want to go or not. If you don’t want to go then just unpack your things” Mr Saltzman instructed. I nodded, that seemed like a good idea. He was about to speak when his phone rang so he excused himself. “Would like some more coffee?” mum asked suddenly getting up. “Yes please” Aaron replied handing her his mug. When she left an awkward silence creeped in and I started playing with the hem of my shirt awkwardly. “I’ll miss you” he croaked and I looked up to find his dark brown eyes glistening with unshed tears. I instantly got up, sat on his lap and hugged him. “I’ll miss you too” I whispered. We stayed like that for awhile before I heard a throat being cleared. I immediately jumped of his blush feeling a blush appear. I looked up to see mum smirking.
After everyone went back home I went up to my room and sat crossed leg on my bed. My head was throbbing painfully and I knew I needed blood but I wanted to see how long I could resist. So far I hadn’t drunk since this morning and it was 6:30 right now. Just then Warrior by Demi Lovato started playing out and I checked my phone to see it was Reagan calling. I’d been avoiding her since the start of this week since she was getting on my nerves. I pressed accept. “What?” I snapped. I heard some ruffling on the other end before she spoke “Chill darlin’ I know you’ve been avoiding me” she said in her smooth cat like voice. I sighed; I really wasn’t ready to deal with her. In every passing second I could feel my energy spilling away but I didn’t dare rush to drink blood. “What do you want Reagan?” I sighed. She chuckled.
“Meet me at 9:45” she said.
“Why?”
“Just come, I know you need some time out” she said. Even though I hated to admit it, she was right.
“Where?” I sighed.
“Where we met the first time near the old warehouse” she said and ended the call.
I couldn’t take it anymore and at 7 I went downstairs to the kitchen. Mum was cooking something which smelled exceptionally delicious. “Whatcha making?” I asked. She jumped up as if frightened and looked at me. “You scared the hell outta me!” she exclaimed. I giggled and opened the fridge, reaching in for a bottle of blood. I twisted the cap open and took a sip. “So what are you making?” I asked once again propping myself on the counter. “Pasta” she smiled and added some vegetables to the pot. “How long will it take?” I asked.
