Chapter 19

~A few weeks later~

Beep, Beep went my alarm snapping me awake; I looked at the clock through my half closed eyes and saw that it was 6:30. I groaned and got out of bed, walking towards the bathroom after grabbing some black faded jeans and a black t-shirt. It had been a couple of weeks and I had to start going back to school again. After getting dressed I applied my usual dark make up before making my way downstairs. I had gotten used to my superb hearing and already knew that mum was awake by the clattering in the kitchen. The delicious smell of toast wafted to my nose causing my mouth to water almost instantly.

“Good morning sweetheart” mum greeted as I walked in and took a seat on the dining table. “Morning mum, smells delicious” I replied and she smiled in return. I wolfed down my entire breakfast before washing the dish and leaving for school. I had gotten so used to staying at home and it felt weird walking down the familiar route to school. “Hey” Ethan said coming up behind me. I grinned as he slung his arm over my shoulder and we carried on walking. However once we reached school, we parted ways to go to our classes.

As I entered my form class everyone fell silent and then erupted into whispers. I groaned walking to my seat; I was dreading this very moment. Aaron had been very helpful and kept me updated on everything that was going on…..and the rumors. Some were so far fetched I almost felt like laughing, almost. Abigail glanced at me and I gave her a sad smile before shrugging. Ever since I started keeping my distance she stayed away from and we slowly grew apart. Not to say that we hated each other, but it was just awkward between us now.

After morning registration I had Art. Everywhere I went people were whispering about me and the shameful thing was they acted as if I wasn’t there and I couldn’t hear when infact my hearing was heightened since my change. ‘Omg, I can’t believe she actually has the guts to show up at school’ I heard someone say but before I could wonder what she was talking about her friend responded ‘Yeah, if I was her I’d hide my face from society after killing someone in a car accident whilst coming  home from a party, drunk’ What the hell? What the actual- Where the hell did people get all this shit from? I groaned and turned towards my art class, walking in.

It turns out that Aaron got an A in the project we were working on whilst I was in hospital. “Well done” I said, congratulating me. He looked me in the eye and nodded. For some reason that was far beyond me, Aaron was acting rather peculiar. “Aaron?” I said as he started working again. He looked up at me. “Is……is there something…..wrong?” I asked him. Although I had wanted to keep my distance from Aaron because of the whole ‘don’t let anyone in unless they’ll only hurt you in the end’ thing but he was stubborn and forced me to let him in. “Nope” he said popping the p and flashing me a smile which screamed ‘fake!’ before going back to his work. I sighed and carried on with my task.

The bell rang and we started packing up, Aaron packed up really quickly obviously trying to avoid me. However I caught his elbow in the hall just as he was about to go and spun him around so he could face me. He looked down at the floor so I forced him to look up. “Aaron, look at me” I shouted. He flinched at my volume and looked up. “Tell me, tell me right now. No more excuses, ok? What is wrong?” I asked him in a serious tone. He looked scared at how I was acting since I was never this serious but I didn’t care, I was sick of the way he was acting. “You…..you know, don’t you?” he asked in a small voice. I felt even more frustrated than ever and I could feel the angry wolf in me rising.

Aarons P.O.V

I’d never in my life seen Selena so angry and serious before. “Know what?” she said grabbing my shirt with force I never knew she had. It almost seemed as if…..she was stronger than me. But she couldn’t be because……..I was an alpha and she was just an ordinary wolf, right? “The mate thing” I said debating whether or not to say more. I was confused; did she really not know she was my mate? Or was she trying to get me to say it and then reject me? Confusion appeared over her face and she said “Um, I know about mates. But………what mate thing?” she asked me. I looked at her, incredulous and laughed. “Come on, don’t tell me you couldn’t feel it” I said. She raised a perfectly manicured eyebrow at me. Lately she’d been caring a lot about her looks, a lot more than she let on. I sighed. “Ok………you’re my mate”
