Chapter 30
“Wake up Floren” a voice mumbled next to my ear. I groaned and turned away from the voice, falling back asleep. Suddenly someone pulled my warm blanket away and the cold breeze travelled up my bare leg. I rubbed my eyes and sat up grumpily. “I hate you” I grumbled getting out of bed and walking to the bathroom. I splashed cold water on my sleep face to wake me up and brushed my teeth. Then I had a quick shower and changed into a dark brown knee length pencil skirt and a white blouse which had a frilly seam. I had a lot of things to do so I was glad Kristopher woke me up a few hours early. I came into the bathroom to find Kristopher sleeping peacefully on the bed. In all honesty his sleepy features appeared angelic in a warm sunlight streaming in through the window.
I called the principal of the Brooklyn International High School. “Hello Brooklyn Latin High School, how may I help you?” the operator asked.
“Hello, this is Florentia Vincent and I’d like to speak to the principal” I replied in my business tone.
“Alright please hold on” she said and I waited. After a while the principal came on.
“Hello Mrs Vincent” the principal greeted.
“Hello Mr. Griffiths, I’d just like to inform you that I might be late” I said.
“How late are we talking here?”
“Possibly 5 to 10 minutes”
“Oh that’s alright then”
“Alright goodbye” I said and he ended the call. I sighed and waited.
A few hours later I heard Alexandra descending the stairs. She looked ravishing in her white tank top, black floral high waisted skirt and baby pink cardigan. Catherine had raised her well. She was mature and beautiful and reminded me of my childhood. Now that she was here I never wanted to let her go, she was my baby girl. I thought that after I’d left her with Catherine, she’d abuse her. But looking at her now, there wasn’t a single bruise that marked her fragile body. There was a special glint in her tawny brown eyes which showed how special she was and I was so proud that she was MY daughter. “Um Florentia?” she asked snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Yes?” I asked. I always spoke to her in a formal manner and treated her formally too because I believed she deserved to be treated like a mature adult. She needed to learn a few manners but that’s ok, I still had time to teach her to become a werewolf of our standard.
“Aren’t you supposed to be at work right now?” she asked. Normally I would be out of the house today but I wanted to take Alex to see the principal with me before her official induction.
“Yes” I sighed. “But I have an appointment with your new head teacher and I was wondering if you’d like to come along”
Her face contorted into a thoughtful one. “Ummm......Yh, I guess that’d be ok” she finally replied. I nodded and she followed me out of the house.
We drove in a peaceful silence to my daughter’s new high school.
Selena’s P.O.V
We pulled up into a massive car park and I got out of Floren’s car to walk up to the stairs into the main entrance. There was a lengthy gold plaque which read ‘Brooklyn International High School’ and I gazed around the entrance which also looked as polished and expensive as the plaque. I followed the clicking of Floren’s heels down the hallway. A few students were scattered around the halls and I took time to notice their appearance. If I wanted to fit in then I’d have to look like them. Everyone wore expensive designer clothes and instantly gave of the ‘I’m-too-cool-for-you-‘vibe which I really didn’t like. Guess it’d be harder to fit in than I thought.
