Chapter 28

I woke up and groaned. I moved my hand to where Adrian was but I just felt empty sheets. I fluttered my eyes open and saw Adrian sitting at the edge of the bed with his head in his hands.

“Is something wrong?” I asked him and he slightly jumped.

“No, I think that the herb that the Moon Goddess gave us is starting to kick in” he said with a sigh.

“Are you in pain?” I asked worried about my mate.

“A little, you don’t feel it?” he asked and I shook my head.

“No, which I find weird since we should be able to feel each other’s pain. Maybe it’s because of the herb” he nodded and sighed.

“What do you feel?” I asked him. I want to know what I will be feeling when it starts to work so I won’t be surprised.

“I feel hot but I'm not sweating and my head is pounding. My hands are a little shaky and I feel a burning sensation on my palms. I feel a slight irritating pain in my muscles and my eyes will twitch uncontrollably and it feels like there’s something in them but it only happens every now and again. I also checked to see if there was anything in my eye but I didn’t see anything and I also washed them out but it didn’t go away. Then every now and again I get really thirsty. I have already had five bottles of water” he said then I saw his eyes starting to twitch again and he groaned. I felt so bad.

“Does it really hurt that much?” I asked him.

“No” he said with a small chuckle “It takes a lot more than this for me to be in pain.”

“I’m scared” I whispered. He picked me up and put me in his lap.

“Don’t be, I'm here for you” he whispered into my ear making me shiver. He kissed his mark and I closed my eyes from the pleasure that was currently running through my body. I rested my head on his shoulder and he started rubbing circles on my back.

“I’ll be back. I need a drink? He said and moved my off his lap and put me on the bed. I smiled up at him and he lightly smiled back before exiting the room. Then I started to feel hot and got dizzy. Everything was spinning and it looked like the walls were closing on me as the heat increased by the second. I closed my eyes to see if the dizziness would go away, but when I opened my eyes everything was still spinning.

I lied down on the bed thinking that may help but nothing made the spinning go away. Then my head started to pound and it felt like I had a migraine. I rubbed my temples and then my hands started to burn. I screamed out in pain which made my head hurt more. I felt the tears forming in my eyes and they started to roll down my cheeks. I put my head in my knees and rocked back and forth occasionally screaming because of the intense pain.

I heard someone run into the room and immediately knew it was Adrian.

“Sshhh” he whispered and picked me up and put me in his lap. It made some of the pain go away and I soon stopped crying.

“W-water” I said struggling to speak. I immediately felt really thirsty and like I haven’t had a drink I days. Then I felt a water bottle in my hands and it was already open. I quickly chugged it down in no time and it felt so good as the cold water ran down my throat. My migraine went down to just a headache so I was able to open my eyes without it getting worse. The first thing I saw was Adrian looking down at me with a worried expression as he held me close to his chest. He smiled down at me and I weakly smiled back.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Better than before” I responded to him with a slight shrug of my shoulders.
