Chapter 29

I got to their house and ran inside. Thankfully the front door was unlocked. I looked around to try and find Sarah or Josh but didn’t see any of them. Then I heard a blood hurdling scream and it was from Sarah. It was coming from upstairs. I ran upstairs and into the room where her screams were coming from.

When I walked into the room I saw something that I would have never wanted to see.

She was lying on the bed and Josh was sitting next to her holding her hand. He had tears rolling down his cheeks as he was looking at his mate. Their pack doctor was trying to do all she could to help Sarah.

She had been stabbed, by whom I have no clue. I never would have wanted to see my best friend like this. Why is it the people I love and the people that I care about are all getting hurt.

I walked into the room. I don’t think that josh has noticed my appearance since he keeps staring at his mate lying on the bed weak and in pain. The knife was planted in her stomach and she was losing a lot of blood.

I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. I broke down crying and fell to my knees. I put my head in my hands as I continued to sob. Someone came over to me and helped me up then walked me over to a nearby chair next to the bed. I stopped crying only to start hiccupping. I looked up to see who helped me and saw Josh standing there. He kept looking at Sarah then me to make sure that we were both okay.

“H-how did this happen?” I managed to say.

“I'm not sure it happened so fast.”

“Where did it happen?”

“At her parent’s house.”

“Why were you there?” he sighed obviously getting sick of my questions but I have to know what's going on for the safety of everyone.

“We went there to go get some of her parent’s things after visiting them. They are just going to stay in that house so we decided that we should move their things there.”

“Now who attacked her?”

“I didn’t get to see them since they were too fast but from the smell of it, I'm guessing they were vampires” he said with a sigh and I growled. Why can’t they just leave us alone?

“Did they attack outside or inside?”

“Outside in the back yard. I heard rustling from the trees but I just figured it was wind. I didn’t smell them when they were in the woods. They did a good job of hiding their scent but when they came close I could smell them.”

“Is it silver?” I asked referring to the knife.

“Yes” he said quietly.

“Why can't you take it out?”

“Because it’s so deep and it hit one of her arteries. We are going to have to surgically remove it” the doctor said jumping into our conversation.

“Well why don’t you just do it now?” I asked.

“Because I have to wait or the medicine to kick in so she’ll knock out and I need her to calm down.” I heard Sarah groan in pain as she tried to move.

“Sarah, babe, please don’t move I'm right here” Josh said trying to calm Sarah down as she struggled to move.

“I-it h-hurts” she whispered struggling to speak.

“I know, but everything will be okay, trust me.” he said and kissed her forehead. With that she fell asleep.

“Okay well I need both of you to step out. The medicine is working so I have to do the surgery now. I will get both of you when I'm done” she said while scooting us out of the room. I growled at her rudeness as I walked out with Josh who was just as aggravated as me.
