(October)
"Watch where you're going, Blondie," a voice said, pushing past Amy.
She turned and saw that the voice belonged to a girl. Not just any girl, though.
A cute one.
She was petite, with fair chocolate dark skin and a big, curly, black afro. She had beautiful brown eyes and full, pink lips and a small nose ring. Amy's heart began to beat a mile a minute at the sound of the girl's raspy yet strong voice.
She probably stared at her for just a few seconds too long, but she couldn't help it. Something about the girl was just drawing Amy in-she seemed kind of familiar, but she still wanted to get to know her.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer," someone joked. Amy jumped, sighing in relief when she saw Kaylin, her teammate and friend from the basketball team.
"You really shouldn't sneak up on people like that-I could've had a heart attack!" Amy exclaimed.
The Asian girl chuckled. "Cry me a river," she retorted. "But, who is that you're staring at?"
"I have no idea," Amy frowns. No one knew she liked girls, so she wouldn't disclose too much, but she was still curious. "..I wonder if she's new here or something.."
"That's Ciara Vaughn!" Jessie, another one of Amy's teammates, hissed quietly, appearing out of the blue.
"Who?"
"CIARA. VAUGHN. She's from the Lady Magics-our arch rival!"
"Arch rivals? Seriously..? Isn't that a little dramatic?" Amy questioned, raising an eyebrow. Jessie knew everyone's business and was dramatic at times, but never really told a lie.
The girl nodded furiously. "Yes! The Lady Magics and The Tigers have hated each other since like, the 90s or something.
My mom was a cheerleader for the Tigers back in like '92 and there was some type of playoff game against the Lady Magics, and apparently a player from the Magics cheated by giving her team special steroids or something so they'd win-which they did. Mom told me a giant fight broke out and someone from the Tigers tried to kill a girl from the Magics, and I dunno, it's just messy. They haven't played each other since..."
"Until now, I guess??" Kaylin said with wide eyes. "I can't believe that!"
Amy rolled her eyes. "Are you sure it's not just some fake story? I mean, none of us were actual there to witness anything.."
"True. I wasn't born until 98," Jessie said randomly.
"Sameee! When's your birthday??"
"March 22nd, you?"
"April 17th!"
"Aries power!" Jessie squealed, high fiving Kaylin.
"Will both of you shut up?!" Amy snapped. They became quiet and looked over at Ciara, whom the blonde was still staring at.
"I've got to get to know her..." She mumbled.

As it turns out, Ciara and the rest of her team were at Hester because they were going to be playing against each other at the end of the week.
"What the hell?!" Rachael, team captain, exclaimed angrily. "WHY ARE WE PLAYING AGAINST THE FREAKING LADY MAGICS?"
Coach Anderson rolled her eyes. "I don't know, Rachael! Do you want some cheese with that WHINE?! God! This wasn't my choice, the school administration decided that after over 20 years, it was finally time to 'bury the hatchet'. And I guess they're right, because I was a student here when that brawl happened," she said with a sigh.
"Are you sure that was only 20 years ago?" a girl on the team mumbled.
"Hahaha, very funny, Bailey. Just remember, there's a reason you're a bench warmer." Everyone burst out laughing except for her.
And Amy. Mainly because she wasn't listening at all-her mind was stuck on Ciara. She didn't care if she was supposed to be the 'enemy'-she didn't even know her. In her eyes, Ciara was so far innocent.
"Now, team, the Lady Magics will be back on Friday night for the big game. They've been practicing like beasts for this, so TRUST that practices this week will definitely be intense! This isn't a social hour, and I don't wanna hear any whining-if you fall down, get back up. We haven't played the Magics in years, and I do not want to lose! I need everyone to be 100 percent focused and motivated this week-so get your head out of the clouds and into the game!"
Amy snapped to attention. Of all the times she had to be completely focused, it had to be this week?!
She remembered where she knew Ciara from when she learned about the Lady Magics vs. Tigers feud; the girls had gone to basketball camp together last summer, and she was definitely a force to be reckoned with. Not only was she extremely talented, but it was like she was teasing Amy-with every little smirk, joke, and step, even though they'd never really talked.
It didn't make any sense, but Ciara was becoming her biggest distraction.

Okay guys, I know this was a REALLY short chapter, but it's just a little time skip/filler in the book. I feel like Amy's perspective isn't always looked into as much as it could be, so there's this. She's slowly developing a tiny crush on someone other than Karma! :O
I'd been plotting this for a long time now because I knew I wanted Amy to start liking other people, so that's how Ciara was created. Fun fact: Her name was originally going to be Anita, but suddenly a Ciara song came on (I always listen to music when I write) and I decided to go with that instead. They're both cute names in my opinion :)
But anyway, next chapter is going to be the big basketball game! We'll see how everything plays out (no pun intended)from then. Let me know what you guys think will happen-I love hearing from you!
Thank you so much for reading, commenting, etc. You guys are the cats pajamas and I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!
Byeee ♡
Signing Off,
iStartedNothing x
P.S. I'm gonna try to attach a picture of Ciara in the chapter-if you're on a computer, it'll be on the side (I think??)
and if you're on a mobile device (like I always am), then it'll be on the top! Just imagine her with a nose ring lol
P.P.S: PLEASEEEE check out my new book "Multi-Fandom One Shots" and leave some requests-I'd appreciate it v much! (:
