"Amy?" Karma asked, calling her best friend's name out in hopes of finding her. She was in the blonde's backyard, because that's where her mother said she was last at.

Amy was curled up in her treehouse, the place she always went when life was too much to handle, crying a river. The treehouse was built by her grandfather, the only man in her life she could trust, and he'd been dead for a year now. Her knees were pulled up to her chest and she was breathing heavily.

Today was not a good day.

She'd just received news that her father was remarrying. It shouldn't have hurt her-he was the one who walked out on her and her mom, but it did. She felt betrayed.

Karma heard sniffles and instantly panicked, running to the big tree and slowly but surely making her way up, making sure not to fall and kill herself.

Once she saw the sight of her disheveled blonde best friend, her heart shattered. "Oh, Amy..what's wrong?"

She inched her way to the girl carefully, knowing she could go off at any moment.

Amy looked up, surprised to see that she was no longer alone. Tears spilled out of her eyes and she just couldn't talk.

It had been 6 years since her parents had separated, but the fact that her dad had just moved on and didn't even acknowledge his past anymore sucked.

"Amy, love, tell me what's wrong..?" Karma asked slowly, the words melting like marshmallows on a campfire. She hugged the girl close to her chest and listened to her cry, stroking her long blonde hair.

"He..h-he-he doesn't love me anymore!" The girl choked out, shaking as she cried.

Karma was taken aback by the sudden outburst; she felt nothing but pain for her best friend in the entire world.

Who even would dare to not love someone like her?

"Who, Amy..?" She was confused.

Then it clicked.

She looked down at Amy and saw that she was wearing the sweatshirt. The oversized Disney World one that belonged to her..father.

"Your dad.." the brunette whispered sadly.

Amy just nodded, crying harder.

"Oh."

Suddenly, both girls were crying.

The green eyed girl looked up, confused and worried. "Why-Why are you crying? What's wrong?"

Karma looked at Amy, rubbing her tear stained eyes. "Don't you get it? We're best friends. When you smile, I smile..when you cry, I cry. When you hurt, then so do I. I hate seeing you like this.."

Amy got choked up. This is why Karma Ashcroft was the best friend anyone could ever ask for.

---

"..And so now he's getting remarried to a girl called Jocelyn Summers. But I guess he calls her 'Joss'."

Karma scoffed, rolling her eyes. "She sounds like a prostitute."

For the first time that day, Amy cracked a smile. It was good to have people like that in her life-who could cheer her up when she was in misery.

"Maybe. All I know is that my dad hasn't made an attempt to see me in at least two years, and now all of a sudden, mom and I get a stupid letter about how he's 'found the one' and would 'love it if we'd share this momentous occasion' with him. Bleh. It's complete crap!" Amy yelled angrily.

Karma couldn't actually relate to what the girl was going through, but she did feel angry and upset.

How could her dad do this to her? She'd never hurt her like that.

The brunette just hugged the blonde and listened. That's all she could do and her friend was grateful for it.

"We were supposed to be a family, you know?" Amy sniffled, wiping her eyes. "Now everything is just broken and split up."

Karma sighed. "Not everything."

"Look, Amy, I know you're hurting right now, but believe it or not, everything will be okay soon. All due respect or whatever, but your dad is a jerk. And he missed out.

You're an amazing girl-he'll never realize that because he made a mistake and left you. I know that's been hard, I can only imagine how you feel-but don't even waste your time or tears over this, it's stupid.

If you don't want to go to the wedding, then don't. If you might want to, I'll come with you. And stay right by your side the whole time. I'm always here for you, you know that, right?"

Amy just nodded, hugging her friend's arm. "Yeah."

Karma kissed her hair. "Good. And it doesn't matter what happens with your dad or anyone else, I am your family. And we're not broken, we're okay. It's alright. I love you."

The blonde kissed the brunette's cheek. She was always there. "I love you too. Thanks."

"Anytime, darlin'."
