Chapter 9: Big news revealed

Kennedy King:

I trail over to Justin's car and get right into the passenger seat. He smiles at me, leaning in to peck my cheek. "How was your day?"

"Boring," I sigh, leaning back into the leather car seat. I'm so tired and I really just want to take a nap.

Justin chuckles, pulling out from the university. "You know... my offer still stands," 

I glance over at him with a raised eyebrow. "And which offer would that be?" 

"You moving in and not having to do anything for a living." He grins. I shake my head at him which makes Justin pout. "Oh come on! You know money isn't an issue for me, Kennedy. Why won't you let me spoil you?" 

"Because Justin," I sigh. We've been over this so many damn times. "I need to work for myself and earn my own money. I'm not just going to live off yours for the rest of my life! That's now how it works." I frown, crossing my arms over my chest like a child who's parents won't get them what they want.

Justin's car pulls up to my dad's house and I look over at him. "Why are we here?" He unbuckles his seat belt. "Your dad asked me to drive you over. He has news." Without another word, we both get out the car. Justin walks over to my side and takes my hand in his and I can feel the familiar butterflies flutter in my stomach. This feeling never gets old. 

I'm about to ring the doorbell when Justin pushes me against the wall in one quick motion, making me gasp in surprise. "What-" He cuts me off by pressing his lips on mine. I kiss back, enjoying the feeling of his lips moulded with mine. We slowly pull apart and Justin gives me a cute smile, "Sorry, I've been wanting to do that all day." 

And with that, he rings the doorbell and I can feel a dark blush coax my cheeks. 

"I'm so glad you guys are here." Dad grins, letting us right in. 

"What's so important?"I ask, removing my shoes. 

Isabel and Ross are on their way down the stairs and I can see a look of panic in Isabel's eyes. She nods her head to the side and I glance to what she's talking about. It's Ashley, she's here... and so is Zach? 

"Oh my god, Zach!" I excitedly yell, running right over to him. 

I throw my arms around my older brother and he laughs, squeezing my body to his chest. "Hey, sis." He smells of axe and when I pull away, I get a better look of his face. He looks much older than the last time I saw him. He has a bit of a beard growing too. 

"How's Florida?" I ask, dismissing Ashley as she stares at me intensely. 

"Good," He chuckles. Justin walks over and the two shake hands, asking each other how they've been. Zach excuses himself and walks past Ashley, pretending as if she wasn't there which makes her frown. 

Justin takes ahold of my hand and kisses it which makes me smile. 

My smile fades when I see Ashley approaching us. She eyes our linked hands but doesn't comment on it. 

"Hello." She smiles widely. 

"Hey, Ash." Justin smiles back which makes my chest tighten. Ash. They're already back onto to nickname basis. Why does it bother me so much? Argh. 

"So... it must be pretty big news if Zach is here, am I right?" She laughs, glancing back over at her shoulder. 

Isabel, Ross and Zach are all sitting together, whispering among themselves. 

"Let's go take a seat, yeah?" Justin whispers lowly into my ear and I nod, letting him take the lead. I sit between Justin and Zach, smiling over at my brother who smiles back. The news must be important if Zach flew back in. 

Dad and Kory take a seat across from us all at the very large dining table, smiling very wide. We all glance around the table curiously, wondering what the news was. "So..." Kory starts, placing her hand on the table. Dad smiles, taking her left hand where the giant diamond ring sat on her ring finger. "We have some important news."

"This is a little sudden," Dad adds and she nods, "But..." They both grin at each other before bursting. "We're having a baby!"

 What the actual hell.
