///Chapter 11\\\

Luna's POV

I woke in the morning to the sun streaming in through a window. I was comfortable in my room and snuggled further into my blanket. I just knew mom would be in soon to wake me but I didn’t care. It was such a nice day that she had to be in a good mood too. When I heard the turning of the door knob I shut my eyes and pretended to sleep.

“Luna.” Tyler’s voice calls from the door and I remembered where I was. I wasn’t at home I was still in the castle. I could hear him come closer and set something on my nightstand before I felt his cool breath on my face. “I know you’re not sleeping.” He says and I open my eyes to his smiling face but something about it seemed off. It seemed forced and his eyes looked distant, like he was trying not to get me to see something. He kept twiddling his fingers as well and I wondered what was up.

“How’d you know?” I ask. I figured he’d tell me if he wanted to.

“Your breathing was irregular.” He shrugs, leaning away from me and allowing me to sit up. He grabbed a tray of breakfast from the nightstand and set it on my lap.

“What’s up?” I ask and he looks at me strangely.

“What do you mean what’s up?”

“You’re smile is forced you’re eyes are distant and you keep fiddling with your fingers. Top that off with breakfast and bed when it would be usual for me to just go downstairs with you means something’s up.” I say and he looks surprised.

“How did you…”

“Years of zoning out in class and watching people’s reactions to things will do that to someone.” I say with a small smile and he nods.

“Eat first then I’ll tell you.”

“No. Just tell me now.”

“You’re not going to have an appetite when I’m done telling you so it’s better if you eat now.” He says and I want to argue but I don’t. I eat breakfast like he says but as soon as it’s gone I look at him expectantly and he sighs.

“Luna your mom is dying.” He says and I just look blankly at him. There’s no way she’s dying. She’s so healthy there’s just no way. Was he trying to trick me of something?

“What?” I ask unbelieving.

“Your mom fell ill last night. She’s in critical condition in the hospital and the doctors can’t figure out what’s wrong.”

“I need to see her, now.” I say emphasizing the last word. Tyler nodded immediately and left the room while I changed.

It wasn’t long before we were in a carriage and on our way to the general hospital. Tyler was silent for almost the whole ride and just kept sneaking glances my way that were bugging me. He looked guilty of something and I didn’t like it.

“When did you find out?” I ask, he would have woken me as soon as he found out so it can’t be too long.

“Last night.” He says and my anger flies through the roof. So much for telling me.

“Why wouldn’t you tell me?” I scream, gripping the bench tightly so I don’t do something I’ll regret.

“Because you hadn’t slept well for a while and you looked so peaceful.” He says quietly and I take a steadying breath.

“What if her condition had changed in that time?” I challenge, my voice calm.

“I would have woken you if her condition had worsened but you needed to rest.”
