 ///Chapter 2\\\

Luna's POV

"For when?" I gulp. Hopefully it wasn't soon.

"Immediately after the festival." Dad says and I feel like swearing though it would get me in big trouble if I did. They really should have done a more thorough search for books containing bad language. I had read lots of books I shouldn't have but I was just too curious.

"What am I supposed to do?" I ask.

"Go to the castle. Explain to the guards who you are and they will let you in. The letter has specifics." Dad explains, handing me the letter.

"I'm going to read this in my room." I say, taking the paper from him and heading for my small room.

My room is on the left of our small hallway and isn't very big. I don't have a lot of stuff which is probably the reason why but sometimes more space sounds very appealing. I definitely don't like being stuck in doors which is why I love to run home rather than just walk. I love being out in the open air and definitely enjoy it while I can.

I opened the door to my room and lay down on my single size bed and begin to read over the note. I don't want to break the seal. What my dad had seen was just on the inside of the envelope, the rest was actually in the letter. Often if there was something that someone didn't want you to read they would write it on the envelope and leave the letter closed.

I ran my finger over the small star engraved in the seal before quickly popping it open to read it.

Luna,

We are delighted to invite you down to the castle immediately after the festival tomorrow, as we do not want you to miss this big day. A carriage bearing the royal colour will appear just outside the Big Circle at the stroke of eight and you are expected not to keep them waiting. This is not a visit for something you have done wrong but will be more freely discussed tomorrow. You will be dropped off at the front of the castle and will be escorted inside by the guards. You are to ask no question and not speak unless spoken to. Again more will be discussed tomorrow. We look forward to your arrival and await anxiously.

Sincerely

The Royals.

Yeah right sincerely. I bet you the Royals didn't have a flake of D.N.A on the paper and that it had been hand written by one of their many servants. I wanted to tear the letter in two and burn it but I didn't. Instead I tossed it on my nightstand and grabbed a book from my shelf. I was glad from the distratction and only realized time had passed when mom called to me for dinner.

I got up slowly, barley even smelling dinner as I opened the door and went to sit down. I filled my mouth with the tasteless chicken and rice. Spices weren't allowed in our foods and the closest thing we got to falvour was melted butter and that was very rare. I picked at my food and didn't really eat it. I was anxious about the letter and it was making my stomach churn in knots so I didn't have an appetite.

I couldn't leave the table until everyone else was finished so I had to endure silence as mom and dad ate. I liked things being loud because silence left my ears ringing. We don't usually talk during dinner anyway but when I eat I can at least here the food crunching in my mouth or the cutlery scraping against the plate but there was hardly any of that today.

When mom and dad finally finished with their plates I immediately reached out to grab the plates so I wouldn't have to sit for so long. I began on dishes immediately, glad for some noise. Dishes were my least favorite thing to do so considering that I was excited for them was kind of weird. I did them as slowly as I could but with only three of us in the house it didn't help much and I was soon done.
