I woke up to bright lights surrounding me. I carefully lifted my head up to see myself lying in a hospital bed, an IV needle shoved into my arm. I leaned forward, attempting to pull them out.
"Not so fast!" Jane's hands gently moved mine from the needles. "It's about time you woke up," Jane's voice was soothing as she guided my hand back beside me. "You've been out ever since we brought you in yesterday."
"Why am I here? Shouldn't I be.." I trailed off as the memories of last night came back.
"Dead?" Andrea came into the room. Or maybe she was always there. I wouldn't know. "Yeah, we were surprised you weren't." Andrea wiped her eyes, trying to stop the tears. "You could've died."
"I wanted to."
"Shut up! Ariana isn't controlling your life and you don't need her to be happy! You have us, your family.. We'll always be here. Don't let that bitch get in the way of your life." Jane took my hand into hers and squeezed it gently.
"W-What happened? How did you even find out?" I stuttered, ignoring Jane's words. I pulled my hand from Jane's, shaking.
"Here." Andrea rushed over and tossed a warm blanket over me. I sighed in relief and looked at them both, waiting for the story.
Andrea sighed, giving in. "Fine."
"Your mother called us around seven, last night, really confused. She told us that you never came home. I was really confused because Jane had told me you got home just fine. Drunk, maybe, but not dead." Andrea breathed in deeply before pursuing the rest of this story. "I told her to wait for Jane and I to get there. Once we both got there, your mother had already called the ambulance and was sobbing. She told us you had been locked in the bathroom, blood everywhere... Jane nearly had a heart attack as she ran up those stairs, terrified you were dead." Andrea finished, her eyes meeting my brown ones. I looked away.
"You didn't explain how I'm sitting here, awake, right now, hearing and speaking to you both." I swallowed, the sound of it deafening.
"They pumped everything out of your system. We were so lucky, if your mother hadn't called, I don't know what I would have done." Jane's green eyes met mine in fear. "You can't do this to me."
"You would've continued living life like a normal person would." I felt tears well up in my eyes and I tried to smile despite the pain. "I know you both would have moved on, found the love of your life, got married... had a wonderful life.."
"Without you." Jane hissed under her breath. "All that means nothing without you! Do you think I can live knowing you're dead? Do you think this is a game?" Jane hissed, the sound echoing throughout the room. Two nurses hurried in, glancing at each other before taking Jane out, whispering things in her ear that I would never know, either.
"I'm sorry." Andrea said, taking my hand and rubbing it. She left without another word.
I was once again alone.

"She's been asleep ever since Andrea and Jane visited her." My mothers voice awoke me. "The nurses told me Jane had an incident but I didn't think much of it. What if that upset her and did something-"
