A million thoughts were swarming in my brain as I lay there, my eyes squeezed shut, on the sands of Ogygia. Why why why. I should have known. The prophecy clearly stated we'd be crashing to the sands, and with the dreams and Leo telling me to my face about her... I didn't know what to think. I was in complete shock. I was an idiot. Fate had an ugly way of showing. Fate. What an awful word. The word that planned out my future. The future I didn't want to know about. But at this point I did. And I did not want to live to see it.
Knowing I'd have to face this situation eventually, I sat back on my heels and and opened my eyes. The island was just as it was in my dreams. The lush greenery and the clear ocean waters. And in the center of it spoiling my view was Calypso herself. She stood in the sand barefoot wearing a white tee shirt and cut offs. Her caramel colored hair was fashioned into a braid over one shoulder and a braided headband laid across her forehead. Her dark almond eyes had a look of worry and surprise that carried all over her face. She appeared to look so kind and caring. But the fact that she was the reason I'd lost Leo, made me angrier than I'd ever been and made me want to hate her.
I looked at the others. Both Percy and Leo were sitting up as well, Kylie still unconscious at Percy's side. I wanted to go over to her awfully, but I was frozen in my spot. Percy looked confused as if he was having a serious case of dejavu. Leo looked like he was in pure shock. I couldn't tell whether he was happy or not and it confused the hell out of me.
"Calypso?" Leo asked as he stood.
A huge grin splayed across her face, "Oh my gods Leo!" she yelled. She ran over to him and threw her arms around his neck. Leo's eyes widened for a moment but he hugged her back. After a moment she pulled away and held his face in her hands.
"I can't believe you're here," Calypsos voice wavered, "I thought I'd never see again."
Leo still looked dumbfounded, "Me neither."
And just like that she was kissing him. And to my horror, he seemed to be kissing her as well. I felt my stomach clench as tears started to fill my eyes. As much as I wanted to feel angry, I was only feeling sadness.
Calypso finally pulled away shaking her head, "Leo how? No man ever visits Ogygia twice let alone three times I dont understand I-" her attention shifted behind Leo to us and her eyes widened, "Percy? And who are the others I-" her eyes lingered on me for a bit longer than what made me comfortable before she focused back to Leo, "Leo what is going on?"
Leo shook his head, "Right, um, we're on a quest and," he turned to us for a moment before he was slapped back to reality, "Look I'll explain later, but Kylie's hurt she needs help."
Calypso's looked at her small frail frame laying on the sand and her face paled, "Oh gods."
I found myself suddenly becoming unstuck and scrambled over to Kylie's side as Calypso made her way over to us. She was laying in an odd position so I rolled her over to her back. Only then did I really get a good look at Kylie and the sight made my stomach churn. Where Thorn had hit her was something that looked like a bullet hole. She was bleeding all over the sand and it was clear that the poison was coursing through her body.
Calypso examined her, "Gods, what happened?"
"A little run in with a manticore and some scorpions," said Percy.
Calypso glanced at him oddly for a moment.
"She was hit by one of his thorns and she's now passed out. She should be okay we just need to stop the bleeding," I explained completely forgetting that I was trying to hate her. All I wanted was to help my friend.
