Its the day. Not just some random day. I mean the day, Friday, that I would find out who my godly parent was. The last few days were again unsuccessful. So today was their last shot. Or, supposedly, I'd be killed. Even though people had convinced me that I wouldn't not be claimed and that even if I wasn't I wouldn't be killed, I was still incredibly nervous. And I mean bite my nails down till it stung nervous. I spent the entire day thinking about it, making my stomach flop over multiple times. I was so unfocused that I couldn't even hit the target in archery today. I was like Percy Jackson bad, which is bad.
It was a couple hours before the campfire and we had the time to do whatever we want. Kylie and I had decided to take a walk along the beach.
"So?" she asked, " Are you excited!?"
"You have no idea," I smiled.
"I don't have a clue on who's kid you could be. You have skills that really could belong to being any gods kid. You're great at archery, Apollo, you are a natural at using almost every other weapon, Ares, and you are completely stunning, Aphrodite."
I grinned at her, "Thanks, but you never know."
"What do you want to do after this?"
"I don't know."
"Well let's see, we can go to the stables, play volley ball, arts and crafts, play volley ball, rock climbing wall, play volley ball."
"Fine, I'll play volley ball with you."
"Oh come on! You never play- wait did you say yes?"
I nodded.
"Oh my gods yes! You know how much I love volley ball and how much I've been dying to play with you. Yes! I'm so excited!"
"Well you are constantly asking me and honestly it got a bit annoying so I had to give in."
"Huh, maybe I should try that on my brothers..."
I laughed, "Ha no kidding, those boys won't do anything you ask."
"So have you talked to Leo?"
I put my face in my hands, "No."
"Gods Rowan have you seen him lately?! He's been acting like a lost puppy."
"I'm really not ready to talk about this right now."
"Well you better be ready."
"What?" I asked looking up from my hands.
"Look behind you."
I looked around to see Leo walking towards us. I snapped my head back around to face Kylie.
"Please don't leave me alone with him!" I pleaded.
"Sorry Row, this isn't mine to deal with. I'm gonna go play volley ball. See you at campfire."
She ran off leaving me standing there. Leo kept walking towards me. I really wasn't ready for this. I had no idea what I was going say. I didn't know what I was going to do. I didn't-
"Hi, " Leo said softly.
"Hi, um I-"
"Rowan I really need you to listen to me," he said, "And this time you are not running away from me."
I looked down at the ground and bit my lip, waiting for him to continue.
"I don't know what came over me last Friday. I know how uncomfortable it made you feel and I'm sorry. I really like you and I don't care if you don't feel the same way. You are not just some random girl I hit on. Those girls mean nothing. I don't even know why I do that. It's stupid. You are different than them. You didn't just run off like they did. You stayed and that made me feel like I was special. I don't care if that doesn't mean anything to you but I just needed to tell you that."
