I screamed in horror before ducking under the creature as it flew above me. I rushed to the door and pushed it open, the creature crashing against the wall. I ran out into the restaurant, screams rising from the other people as the creature came out after me.

"LION!" a woman screamed beside me.

"Yeah!" I said, "Slash goat slash snake thing!"

"What?" she asked, "It's just a lion!"

"Huh? You mean you don't see the rest of it?"

"No! Now let's get out of here!"

The woman ran off with her family. The lion thing chased after me as I rounded back to my table. My foster family was in complete shock, Lydia and Mark shielding Holly. I quickly grabbed a steak knife from the table before turning to face the beast.

"Oh young demigod!" It snarled, "Don't run away! We were just getting ready for dinner!"

It opened it mouth to roar, but instead of a sound fire spewed out. I screamed leaping up to an empty chair then crawled up to the table. It followed me up to the table swiping one of it's large paws at me. I slashed out with the knife creating a gash in it's paw. It cowered backwards nudging at it's wound. It gave me enough time to jump to the next table.

With the lion wounded, it's snake end stretched out across the table and snapped out at me with deadly fangs spitting some sort of acid. I jumped backwards, the acid eating at the table. Out of instinct I swung the knife down at the snake. I looked down at it to see the head of the snake lying at my feet bleeding a gold like substance, it's body limp on the table.

The lion roared again. Clearly well enough to fight again, the lion was crouched down ready pounce. It leaped into the air and knocked me over. I yelped out in pain as its paws pushed down on my chest.

" Say good night young demigod." it sneered.

It opened its mouth wide ready to bite. Suddenly it occurred to me that I still had the steak knife in my hand. I struggled my hand free before stabbing the creature right in the eye. It let out another loud roar, clawing at it's face as it's eye dripped more gold. I quickly grabbed another steak knife and threw it at the monster, hoping it was distracted enough not to notice. Surprisingly the knife buried itself in the lions chest. I let out one last roar before it disappeared in a could of gold dust.

I jumped down from the table and sat down in a chair. I-I killed it. I killed it. I was shocked into realization that our waiter turned into that lion mutant. It called me Rowan Floyd. I'm a foster kid with unknown parents. How could I have a last name? It called me a demigod. What the hell is a demigod? And I killed it. I threw my head into my hands and wept.

"ROWAN!" yelled a voice.

My head snapped up in the direction of the voice only to see Jonah standing only a few feet away from me. I jumped up and ran over to him wrapping my arms around him. Only then did I realise that something was different about him. I backed up quickly. Were his normal legs should have been were furry brown goat legs, with hooves.

"WHAT THE FU-"

"ROWAN! Calm down! Listen we need to get out of here. I'll explain on the way."

"What the? On the way where? What the hell is going on!"

"To camp." He turned to my foster family,"Can you give us a ride?"

"You used the phone didn't you?" Lydia asked me ignoring his question.

"I- I didn't realize I-"

"C'mon let's go," she said.

"Mommy what's going on?" Holly asked teary eyed.
