Hullo...uh...This is about six months late so uh...Im just gonna put this here and hope you guys don't attack me 🙃 -Carlie

By the time I woke up the next morning, Leo was passed out next to a fully completed row boat with room for all four of us. He seemed completely sound asleep. He was probably exhausted. Gods, why did he do that? He's too persistent, I thought. I mentally scolded myself for what seemed like the millionth time, he doesn't matter.

The sky was still pink with the sunrise and Percy was awake and eating breakfast with Calypso, talking softly. I couldn't tell what they were eating, but it smelled delicious. Driven by hunger, I sat up slowly rubbing my eyes, then stretching my arms. I stood, brushing some sand off of myself before approaching the two.

"Morning Rowan," Percy greeted me.

I smiled softly in silent response.

"You hungry?" Calypso asked, "I made some oatmeal."

I was too nervous to eat so I opened my mouth to say no, but my stomach protested with a growl. I sighed, "Yeah sure. Thank you."

Calypso smiled and scooped some of the contents of the pot beside her into a bowl. She sprinkled some cinnamon on top before handing it to me. I took a spoonful and ate it, relishing in the taste. It may be the last food I ever eat. I closed my eyes, rubbing my forehead. Shut up Rowan.

"So uh, when are we doing this?" I asked taking another spoonful of oatmeal.

Calypso glanced at a sleeping Leo beside us, "Well, Leo's out cold. Thought we'd let him sleep a bit longer."

I nodded, taking a deep breath.

"This will work," Calypso assured me, "We'll be fine."

I opened my mouth to retort back at her, something snarky, but I decided against it and nodded again. She'd been nothing but nice to me. I could at least be nice back. I rubbed my eyes. This whole thing was destroying me.

"Well," Calypso stood up grabbing her pot, "I'm gonna go clean up and pack some stuff. I don't plan on ever coming back here."

"Sounds good," Percy said handing her his bowl, "We'll get some stuff into the boat so it's ready."

Calypso smiled and headed off. Percy stood and wiped his hands off on his jeans. Motioning for me to follow he started walking down toward the boat where a pile of supplies was waiting to be loaded.

"We brought these down this morning while you were sleeping," he told me, "Just a few things, in case something happens."

I looked at him alarmed, "What do you mean in case something happens?"

Percy shook his head, "No no no, nothing bad, just if it takes long or if we end up in the middle of nowhere. Everything will be okay Rowan, just calm down okay?"

"I know I know, I'm sorry," I said, "I've just never done anything like this before. You don't know how scared I am."

"Rowan I've done this before," Percy replied, "I know how scared you are, and I'm just as scared."

"It hasn't caught up to me until now, that we could die. Gods I didn't sign up for this Percy!"

"None of us did." I turned around. Leo was sitting awake on the sand behind us. Only his eyes were directed on us, "You get used to it."

I opened my mouth, but no words would come out, so I turned back and started shoving things into the boat only to have Percy rearrange it again. Leo remained silent and in his place while we finished the work. I knew he was tired, so I didn't mind exactly, he'd done enough already. Once everything was loaded, Calypso came back and put her suitcase in. She seemed genuinely happy for being in the situation we were in. I wondered how long she'd actually been on this island. How much contact with actual human beings she's had. She's probably been through so much more than people give her credit for.
