Pietro Maximoff- The Future

Pietro's pacing. Not just normal, to one end of the room and back, pacing. More like from the top of the Tower to the bottom and back again. Until he trips on a foot he didn't see-how did he miss that?- and goes crashing into the couch that just so happened to be angled towards him.

"What's wrong?"

Pietro's blood runs cold and he stops mid-groan, keeping his eyes down as he stands. Of all the people who had to stop him.. Well, than again, you two are kind of dating.

"Pietro,"

He jumps when you place your hands on either side of his face, peering up at him in worry. His eyebrow twitches to keep from running.

"Now, tell me what's wrong."

He almost snorts. How is he supposed to tell you what happened? How an hour ago, some man walked into his room, claiming he's from the future and that you're the cause of the apocalypse? You'd think he's crazy, and right now, he's not sure he's not crazy. Because you don't look like someone who'd end the world. You're all smiles and giggles and comforting words. There must be some kind of mistake.

It's on a mission when he realizes that the man from the future may be correct. See, you have this power that easily dominates the mind of anyone near you, making them your puppets.

And right now, you controlling a whole army to Attack each other is horrible and violent. Everyone else is turned away, trying not to watch as the soldier's tear each other apart, but you're not. Your eyes wander the battle field, a smile pulling at your lips, like your looking at a beautiful view and not a bloody massacre.

The second time Pietro realizes the man from the future is correct is when you take control over the minds of the Avengers. Now he doesn't know why he's the only one able to think and act without your influence. Maybe it's because of his metabolism. He's not sure.

But you're making them fight. Tony against Steve. Natasha against Clint. Pietro against Wanda, his own sister. And Bucky and Sam.

And Pietro now knows that he has to end this or they'll kill each other and you'll eventually move on to a bigger playground.

So Pietro breaks away from Wanda, speeding right towards you and smiles sadly.

"I am so sorry, (Y/n)," he whispers, using the knife you had given him earlier to plunge into your stomach.

You gasp, hands finding his as you slowly sink to the floor, and he gently takes you in his arms.

"I am so sorry," He repeats again, tears pricking his eyes as you cough.

It's Steve who first breaks from the trance. Then the rest follow and gape at Pietro, sobbing into your hair as fight to keep your eyes open.

"Not your fault.." You murmur, labored breaths slowing. "All this power, it drove me insane.. Thank you for-"

Pietro's head shoots up at your abrupt stop. Your eyes are open, staring blankly at the ceiling and that's when he knows that you're gone.

Later that night the man from the future returns, praising Pietro for saving the future but he notices that Pietro isn't happy about it.

"May I ask why you look so sullen?" The man asks, and Pietro turns to him, eyes dull and tears no longer flowing.

"I saved the world from an apocalypse by destroying mine."
