Your fingers move faster than Wards eyes can handle, making him blink and rub his lids.

"Could you not be so- fast?" Ward grumbles, narrowing his eyes when you snort.

"Would you like me to get Coulson and May killed in the process? The only reason they're not dead is because of the speed I'm hacking this HYDRA base at. Now, I need to concentrate on getting them through the exit." You say calmly.

"God, of all people I had to get stuck with." He mutters, rubbing his neck. "At least you're not Fitz. Last mission with him wasn't exactly calming-"

"Really don't care!" You slam the computer shut and climb into the passenger seat. "Drive to the north exit. They'll be wait."

Ward sighs, but does as he's told and takes off towards the exit. Just when you're about to pull to a stop, bullets pelt your window.

"Crap, they're onto us!" You hiss, slamming your hand on the dash. "Keep driving. May and Coulson'll never be able to get in. They're safer hitching a ride with Skye."

Ward nods and accelerate's forward. "Hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride!"

You squeak when a bullet penetrates the glass and nearly grazes your head. "Really? I didn't notice!"

Once you've made it out of the compound, you let out a sigh. "I hate being in the field. I'd very much rather stay in the Bus."

Grant chuckles. "That's nothing. Wait until you're in real hand to hand combat, you're going to be wishing you were here."

"What, being stuck in this car with you?" You roll your eyes. "No thank you."

He scoffs. "C'mon, I'm not that bad."

You prop your feet on the dash and recline the seat back. "Well, you certainly handle pressure better than Fitz."

"Oh God, and Skye?" Grant groans, making you nod.

"Remember that incident on the train with Cybertek? Fitz got all flustered when Skye kissed his cheek," You say, not being able to hold back a smile

Grant sighs. "Those were the days-"

The car jerks forward, making you shriek and sit up straight. "What the hell was that?"

"HYDRA," Grant says, his eyes flickering to the mirror. "They must've followed us. Buckle up."

You fumble with the belt. "You don't need to tell me twice!"

"Hold on!" Grant shouts, wrenching the steering wheel to the side. "I'll take out the drivers. Here, take the wheel!"

You quickly slip into the drives seat and press down on the gas until the peddle hits the floor.

"Keep your head down!" Grant opens one of the back doors and begins to shoot at the cars. Two of the three cars crash into each other, leaving only one chasing after us.

You jolt the wheel to the side when you look back.

"Focus on driving, not me! I'm fine."

"Are you crazy?" You shout back. "You could get shot!"

"I won't!" He holds up his gun and fires a single shot. He must've hit the driver, because of the car lurching to the side and skipping across the ground.

"See?" He turns and smiles cheekily at you, but you gasp when you see a man climb out of the van with a grenade launcher.

"Grant!" You scream.

He turns back and shoots the man, but not before he pulled the trigger on the large gun.

"Get down!"

At the last second, you grab the heaviest thing you could find and press it down on the gas peddle. You slip out of your seat and run in the back to close the doors.

"What are you doing!" Grant shouts, but you can't hear him over the sound of the explosion. You slam the doors shut and fly back when the van gets caught in the blast.

"(Y/n). (Y/n)? Wake up!"

Your eyes flutter open and the first thing you see is Grants face pinched in worry.

"Why so serious?" You croak, groaning a second later when you touch the back of your head.

"What you did was stupid!" Grant hisses at you, helping you sit upright against the vans wall.

"Sorry, I didn't want to die." You mutter, making a face when you roll your shoulders. "God, what did I hit?"

"Me-"

You chuckle dryly. "Huh, and to think I hit a brick wall? That makes a lot of sense."

Grant lightly touches your bleeding head. "I'm not joking around, (Y/n), you could've died."

"We both would've died if I didn't close the doors. We'd be toast."

He smiles croakily. "You're some hero, huh?"

"Shut up, Ward."

Leaning forward, he gently places a kiss on your lips. "But I'm serious, don't ever do that again."

You smile. "Do I ever listen to anything you ever say?"
