Chapter four

CHAPTER FOUR

~Lily's POV~

That kiss lingered in my mind for the rest of the day.

I've never had these feelings for anybody before, and I found myself dwelling on him at inappropriate times, such as while I worked on multiplication in one of my math classes. But I also wondered what he had been talking about with Angelica. Why had he referred to them as "soulmates"? Wasn't a better term dating? But if Jacob was dating Angelica and this was all a rouse than that would mean that Jacob was just a typical boy, selfish and irresponsible. That thought just made my eyes fill up with tears again, so I tried to force it out of my mind. And how was Jacob's amulet supposed to erase my memory? It didn't make any sense.

After school I walked home, and when I found the door was locked I dug in my pocket for the key. My mom was probably working late again. She'd been doing that a lot lately. As for my dad, who knows? He left my mom when I was 1 year old. I don't know much about him or about what happened when he left because mom doesn't like to talk about it. I'm not to sad about it because I don't remember, and how good of a dad could he have been if he left his wife and one year old daughter by themselves with virtually nothing?

I finally found the key in my pocket and I slid it into the lock.

When I got inside, I put my bag on the table and noticed a note on it.

Lily.

I'm working late again. Your dinner is in the microwave. You can have friends over but don't do anything silly, make a mess or stay up past 11.

Mom.

After I read the note I sat down on the couch and opened my laptop.

Suddenly my phone buzzed in my pocket. It was a text from Jacob.

Jacob/ Hey. Sorry about before. I guess I owe you an explanation. :/

Lilly/ yeah. Want to come over for dinner?

Jacob/ I already ate, but can I come over just to chat?

Lilly/ yep. See yah soon.

I didn't know why I was being so nice to Jacob I guess I just needed someone to talk to. And I really wanted to know what he and Angie had been talking about in the supply room.
