Chapter twenty two

CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

~Jacobs POV~

After a small snack (the whole jar of cookies), Jenna went back into Bartemius's study to see if he was finished tidying up.

When she came back out, she said: "he's ready for you now Jacob,"

~Bartemius's POV~

When Jacob came in to my study, I was just straightening the last stack of papers on my desk.

"Ah!" I ran a hand through my grey hair. "Jacob, good man!"

Jacobs a bright fellow, smart enough to teach an elephant to wear Birkenstocks.

"Sit down, young lad,"

"It's very...clean in here," he remarked, pulling up a chair.

"I expect my wife's been filling you with tall tales about my cleanliness," I frowned. "It's a bunch of ...stool,"

I don't swear in front of minors, teenager or not.

"I can assure you I am very tidy, things just tend to pile up when you're busy and don't have time to clean up every five milliseconds, like my wife!"

She and I are like an old married couple, the way we argue. Actually, now that I think about it, we are an old married couple.

"So," I continued. "You wanted to speak to me, I presume?"

"Yes," Jacob face turned worried, his intelligent blue eyes loosing there sparkle. "Well...earlier today, my new friend Lily got...captured. I was rather hasty to rescue her and I...unleashed all my power,"

"You what?" I asked in awe, sitting up straighter in my chair

"The last elemental controller that did that...well, I'm sure you know what it does to people. What it usually does to people,"

Jacob didn't answer.

"You're the smartest person I could think of going to," he said quietly after a minute,"

"Well," I put on, just to comfort him. "I'm afraid I don't know what happened, but the important thing is that you weren't harmed,"

"You're right," Jacob sighed. "I shouldn't be dwelling on this,"
