Chapter twenty six

CHAPTER TWENTY SIX

~Lilys POV~

I saw Jacob make that air bubble. He turned so red, he was close to becoming the same colour as Griffins blazer. Sweat streamed down his face, soaking his olive green T-shirt.

After that huge explosion, he let go and the water crashed onto us so forcefully that it should have killed us. Like before, though, it was just like a gust of wind.

Jacob collapsed, passed out. I ran over to him and Angie and I helped him to the castle.

~Jacobs POV~

I dreamed I was in a castle. All the stones were blinding white, and mist covered the bottom of every wall. I turned around and was facing a woman. Her hair was white blond and fell to her waist and she was wearing a crown of silver leaves. A beautiful pearl pendant sat above her pale forehead.

A white robe brushed the floor as she walked slowly towards me. She moved not as if she was stepping, but as if she was floating.

When she got closer, I noticed white feathered wings sprouting from her back.

"Are you...an angel?" I asked.

She laughed, a beautiful tinkling sound.

"No child," she smiled. "I am Hecate, goddess of magic,"

"But," I frowned. "I thought Hecate had snakes for hair,"

She laughed again. "Well," he said. "I prefer to make a better first impression to strangers. After all, many people have mistaken me for medusa," she pulled on her hood, and when she took it off, her hair hissed and writhed.

"Why am I here?" I asked.

"To learn about magic," she smiled. "Magic is not just waving wands and shouting words like 'hocus pocus', it's more than that. Magic is everything! The humans don't know that, because their world has always been like this for them, but everything they know is magic. Even they are magic,"

"How does this help me?" I asked.

"It helps everybody," she put her hand in my shoulder. "I sense our time together is coming to an end. I have some advice. Brace yourself for great loss,"

The dream dissolved, and I sat bolt upright in bed.
